I suppose I'll be the first to say that no laptop is really good for editing. Save yourself a lot of hassle and money and just get a desktop, if possible.
I have this, its good for editing photos with CS3,4 or 5 works for editing video that are under 5 mins in 1080i (from an HV20) after 5 mins the video starts getting jittery. I'm poor and can't afford anything better.
If you want an always work, never fail computer this might be your ticket,
mac book pro, you will be so happy, their glass screens are super good for image quality and acurate color representation, don't be stupid and trust a pc with your pictures. Its like bringing your money to a bank in the ghetto, its gone, instead keep it safe in fort knox. Your pictures are worth more than the computer.
Your still not going to find one for under $1000 new. There great computers and use them all the time at school, but for someone on a budget they might not be the right choice. Plus this guy wants a laptop
did the OP ever say he was on a budget? no, people are giving him the best options while still keeping price in mind, its not like they are suggesting he get the new 12 core mac pro. 1400 for a imac/macbook pro is a pretty average cost, plus you pay for quality. A mac can do everything a pc can do, and do many things better
He is asking for a computer that is good for "editing photos" to me that seems like he is asking for a very basic machine, a $1200 imac can edit photos, edit hd videos, design websites, batch render video, play graphics intensive game, and so much more. But right now, I'm recommendation him a dell which can edit photos, do basic Internet tacks and edit sd video with ease. Now what's the difference between the mac and the PC beside the obvious advantages of mac, $900.
And most people I know would like $900, I'm not ripping on macs, there better then PC's. Its just that he wants a computer for editing photos, this is a very basic task. So my recommendation is a dell inspron 1545
thank you for sayin that man. i am not rich i have to buy it my self and can not afford to throw one grand away cause i do still need money for camera gear and a good version of photoshop which can get expensive. i dont do video just photos. i dont need the worlds nicest laptop. juts something that functions well with photo editing and music playin.
