Canting on a ski boot

I was just wondering what the thing on the side of my 1080 boot's that said canting meant and why you would adjust it?

It's not true canting, that takes place on the binding. It's mostly used for racers or people that ski at a very high standard. It helps keep as much base in contact with the snow as possible on uncanted ground (i.e. laterally flat)

some people can be bowlegged (to different extents) and this can mean the ski is slightly up on it's edge, slowing the skier down.

The canting will slightly adjust what angle the bed of your foot sits at in your boot, it works to an extent but if your serious about it then the plates that fit some bindings (mostly race bindings) are the only way to do it correctly, it's very time consuming though.

ok newschoolers is gay. they delete my messages and my pictures and my videos. i dont know what the hell is wrong with them. dont they know that they are ruining my hopes and dreams. i had really good pictures posted and they delted all of them. they were really good almost as good as the pros. but the thing i cant understand is why they delete my good pics but keep the really crappy ones. it really saddens me to the point in which i would like to cry. also they always delte my videos. i have really good ones, much better than anyone elses and they delte them. i think its because they dont want me to embarrese the other members. newschoolers also deltes my good messages. they unlike others create conflict whichis good. but since new schoolers is gay they delete them. NS=GAY

it doesnt even matter really... the 'canting: on the side of the boot really isn't canting. Its more like an ankle angle tweak at best. Real canting is done with shims under the bindings, or beveling down the base of the ski boot at an angle, and reconstruting with epoxy on on the upper surfaces of the toe and heel, to maintain DIN integrety.

the canting on the boots is use if your legs are fucked and not normal. basically. and as its being said, it isnt really canting, but that is what the bolt you are talking about is for.

fow awhile I had a shorter leg then the other so I put a slab of something under my foot to comprimise.. I still have it. Helps me keep forward on rails. Patending it.

Many bindings still have plates for true canting anymore jibtech? I know atomic offer them with most race skis they sell.

i had my soles of my boots shaved down quite a bit and they angles it properly so my knees lined up properly. it brings you down closer to the ski which makes you more stable. i noticed quite a big difference in terms of stability. i'd recommend it to other people but get it done at a high end shop who knows what their doing.
