My neighbor won this huge fucking diamond ring on the price is right a long time ago. She won some other stuff too but it escapes me at the moment. That same year, she won a private jet in vegas, playing the slots. A few years ago, she won a Nissan 350z at a casino in Indiana. As far as i can tell, their entire family has some sort of weird obsession with gambling, so i guess that's where it comes from.

TV nowaday is unoriginal and fake but imy price is right experriance they didn't tell my buddy shit. He got up won some shit and lost in showcase showdown. He then had to pay taxes on a bunch of stuff.

It pretty much goes like this:

You win car and a bunch of stuff
They tell you that since it is a gift over $1000 you must pay taxes on it
You now have to pay $12000 in taxes for a $25000 car
You just win a car that is a shit load cheaper, since the television company isn't willing to pay the other half in gift taxes.

Oh and back in high school a classmate got on and won a laptop, car, and the showcase showdown. I forget waht he ended up keepping (taxes) but it was definitely legit.

The probability of the birthday dude winning all of that is approximately

(1/4)*(1/100)*(1/16)*(1/16)*(1/2) = 1/(204 800) i.e. about 1 in 200 000.

For the second guy who guessed the show case price exactly, assuming the first digit was obvious, it would be

(1/10)^4  i.e. 1 in 10 000


Otherwise, if he completely guessed all 5 digits it would be

(1/10)^5 i.e. 1 in 100 000



SO, in any case it is clear that  the birthday dude is the luckier winner.
