Do you have to be 18 to move out?

I just turned 18 and am trying to move out. My friend, who wont be 18 till march wants to move in with me and his parents probably aren't going to be happy about it. Is he legally allowed to live there if it's my name on all the paperwork?

we're hoping this is the alternative to him getting emancipated because that seems much more difficult.

In short, legally, not unless your buddy is emanicipated. Under the age of 18, you are a minor and ineligible to enter into a binding contract.
Now can your buddy live in the apartment without being an actual leaseholder? That will all depend on how much risk you are willing to take in getting evicted if it's found out that someone other than the leasee is residing at the property.

no homo.
And I didn't realize you could be evicted for that. I'm planning on buying tho so that shouldn't be a problem anyway. And we both make good money so im not worried about that. It's really just a question of what his parents can legally do if they're really against it.

unless his parents are douchebags and dont actually love him, they wont do anything. And they cant do anything really, they could sabatoge his plans of trying to rent or something rediculous like that, or cut his phone off if the phone is still under the parents name. Still though, if he has a good enough job to be living on his own, then his parents just need to come to accept that. If they did try something legaly though, he could just tell the cops that his parents beat him...dont think the case would hold for to long....
