I did no such thing assuming that those people in that neighborhood didn't have a mortgage. I said it disenfranchises those who rent (a large amount of people in general), and those who are looking. Either way, this tax money is being spent irresponsibly, and shows complete detachment from the populace they think they're helping. In neighborhoods like this, the more they raise prices on houses, renovate, clean etc. IE the more respectable they make it, the more money it's going to cost for residents currently living there. If they keep cleaning up neighborhoods like that and raising the prices, they're going to end up forcing out the residents of those neighborhoods in favor of more expensive residents. We see it happen all the time in Latino and black neighborhoods. In a time like this, when people cannot afford to move and unemployment rising, it's very irresponsible to start up a program like this. They should at least wait until employment rates and the economy have begun to stabilize and recover more thoroughly.
And yes, they are pissing away taxpayer money. Anytime you see them fix up a house for $120,000 and sell it for $90,000 they're pissing away taxpayer money.
And as for your comments about retarded, get a thicker skin. If I got angry at every 13 year old that calls things gay I'd have had a heart attack. Sure, I'll try and strike it from my speech, but don't fly off the handle every time you see it or you're not gonna make it to 25.
