So for my junior year, my parents said we can move to a mountain out west. No this isn't because I'm rich and spoiled but because my whole family loves to ski, and my alllergies are awful out here in the east. every other tree or grass makes me die of sneezing. SO, I need some advice, where to? deepest snow, mellow back country, and a pretty good park. but back country are powder is the priority. also chill locals helps as well.
I think a lot of it's gonna matter about the local economy or whether your parents will have guaranteed jobs, unless they're retired already. But some good places to live, IMO, might be Salt Lake, Seattle, Portland, even Bozeman if your family is into it.
ive lived in both utah and colorado. utah gets twice as much as colorado and there is some better big mountain terrain but from my experience living in utah isnt as fun as in colorado. colorado has the better parks, good pow days, and more fun to live in.
if your family doesn't mind solitude and a smaller town then mammoth is a great mountain. awesome powder all throughout the early season and the best park late spring. bend would be a great choice, so would mt. baker. It all depends upon what you are looking for in the mountains. need more criteria. how big of a town, do you mind overcast skies almost everyday? etc.
probably dont, but i believe that there is no law saying its NOT ok to be in posession, but the police can still take the weed away if you are caught with it
^ mammoth is a huge possibility, my cousin is on the avalanche patrol there. such a sick job, guy shoots m16s and grenades and shit into the side of mammoth, then skis the pow down.
Move to tahoe and shred Squaw. Great resort and Tahoe is one of the most chill places i know i love it there. And the trees are chronic over there. if you were wondering
i have an idea! lets make this thread into an argument about marijuana! or a contest to see who's mom is a better cook. Or maybe some other semi-unrelated subject.
if i were you i wouldnt really be thinking much. definitely Portland OR or Boulder CO.
Something you should definetely be planning is to move to the state where you want to go to college so that you will get instate. Which would solidify boulder with all the rad schools in CO. although Cali has good schools too, and oregon arent bad.
you can get weed easy any where you can ski, so i wouldnt even include that as a part of your criteria.
btw the reason i would say boulder or portland over mammoth lakes is that they are more cities than ski towns, but then this post is largely based on my personal likes and dislikes, perhaps your fam is into the lil ski town thing.
Go to Breck brah, my cousin lives there and skis all the Vail resorts(he gets maaaad hookups) and he says it's so chill. Plus he said that Breck has the best park he has ever skied with Keystone in a close second.
Dude Utah sucks, I suggest anywhere else. Over 600 inches of snowfall the last five years is pathetic. The last thing we need is one more person tracking out the backcountry here. In all seriousness, salt lake is pretty great especially if you are looking for pow and touring. Most bcc,lcc passes also work as bus passes to get up and down the mountain. Heck, it's easy to hitch hike it... You can get fresh tracks weeks after a storm once u get know the backcountry...
