I'm starting highschool football this year and I'm wondering if any of of you have suggestions on what type of gear I should get such as pads and underarmour

also buy a girdle with built in pads. The pads are less protective but about 30 times easier to run in

Buy a good mouth guard, the one they give is garbage and realy uncomfortable, other than that you need cleats and a good pair of gloves

Trust me.... It's worth it.

Also buy some under armour, or the likes, for under the shoulder pads and some compression shorts for under the girdle.

and some shock pads.Click for larger image
they help reduce stingers somewhat, make it so hitting doesn't hurt as much, which means you can hit harder.

All you really have to worry about will be cleats, gloves, I always bought my own girdle, and possibly a mouth guard if you want something a little nicer than the one they provide

Invest in a good set of cleats. Definitely take a while to find a pair you really like. Also, gloves are in my opinion a must. I learned that after having 3 fingernails ripped off when I started playing in bantam.

I forget who makes it, but go to your local sports store and buy the black chinstrap that has a gel pad thing in it. Best purchase I ever made for football.

If its your first year playing, don't run out and buy a bunch of expensive equipment. Its pointless and you'll probably spend half the season on the bench anyway (at least until you know the game better).

That being said, I got myself one of these junior year and loved it, found that it helped my hit harder and more consistently. Defiantly check one out if you plan on playing D-end/Linebacker.

i played football in elementary school, middle school, high school, and college. just get some good cleats, your feet with thank you. You don't need anything other than that.

get the smallest leg pads possible, you really dont need them they are pretty pointless.. so if you get the smallest lightest ones you will have more mobility in your legs which should let you run faster. Also get the smallest sized shoulder pads possible for the same reasons. face mask is up to you and what your position is, i personally prefer the 2 upper bar 2 lower bar or the 2 upper bar 3 lower bar.

buy a chin strap sleeve cuts down on pimples and shit.    buy a pair of high cleats  more support.   the pads they gives you will look shitty but they have been refurbished and made safe dont worry.  gloves are alright but not the biggest thing,  forearm pad sleeves golden.   girdles are pretty cheap and definetly a must but  i got a underarmor one for cheap  so perfect.   buy leggings at like tj maxx (i got underarmor ones there)  they come in handy towards the end of the season.  d end is what i play so if you do get gloves its fine but dont get a pair of big bulky linemen gloves, at my school atleast d ends are in two point so you dont have to go down.      DONT QUIT  footballs gonna suck the first couple of weeks but then it gets fun stick with it,  colleges love smart kids with extra cirricular activities.  and thats my list take it as you will.
