Jacob Wester is my hero. Those who bitch about him are just jealous of his all around confidence and ability. He is such an amazing skier who just says what he honestly thinks. There shouldn't be anything to hate on. But why, when this thread originally addressed his 'after-bang,' does it splinter out into random replies of hate?
The real question is, what exactly did Jacob Wester say was wrong and is he doing it? I think he walks a fine line, not just with this video but in any video. After-bang is almost like an attitude expressed when you land. It is suppose to show an effortless, clean, somewhat cocky stomp. Really it is just adding extra style to something other than the actual trick. However, there are definitely different degrees of after-bang. A very clean, natural landing can have hints of after-bang in it. On the other hand, it can be really forced and look superficial like any other parts of the trick. If he was coming out against after-bang in general, I think he made a mistake. As proven by this thread, it is very hard not to add style to your landing and many things will count as after-bang. As mentioned, if you stomp a trick cleanly, it can look as slight after-bang. You would have to land unnaturally and sloppily to avoid any hint of after-bang. However, Jacob Wester might have been coming out against forced style in general and thought "brogan ride-away" was the prime example. In this case he is safe because nothing he does is forced.
