Bluehost is alright. Their customer service is pretty helpful and very fast cause they have live chat.
My only complaint with them is that sometimes their servers are sluggish and there actually has been a decent amount of down time on their end. Maybe caused by me once or twice... but really, I should be able to freely upload and download 3 gigs of images when I need to.
You can get a dedicated IP from them for only $3 a month more, which I like.
I use a company called ICDsoft cause its cheap, my site has never been down as far as I know, and they handle everything pretty much instantly. No 48 hour waits and waiting for databases and what not like some companies... Also, their control panel is the easiest I have ever used.
Godaddy... They have improved the last 3 years or so... but I still have some problems with them.
1. Their Domain names usually cost extra.. sometimes its included, but from my experience.... it a small sometimes...
2. Their DNS takes forever if you switch hosting but keep your domain name. I waited over 3 days for the change when I dumped their hosting for someones site.
3. Their control panel is not the easiest to use in that you have one for your domains and one for hosting and differnt logins for everything and a username and a number and it just becomes a mess.
4. Godaddy defaults to Windows hosting which a lot of content management systems don like. You actually have to select Linux hosting. Not sure if it costs more... .but its just annoying cause I've had to switch a few clients over to Linux and it takes a day or two...
5. Most changes with GoDaddy hosting take a day or two....
Also, the Control Panel has a tendancy to always open new windows for editing files. I prefer inline editing cause its a lot easier and I can see everything thats going on and blah blah blah... yeah.
Worst hosting I have ever seen was through Vista Print.... Wow...
I will state that CPanel is my least favorite Control Panel to work with in that it is the least intuitive. So if you see that as one of the Benefits... its not as great as it sounds.
