Skimboarding LA

hey guys, im going to LA at the end of august and want to buy a new skimboard there, since they are alot cheaper in the US than here in germany. I dont have a drivers license and im looking for good skimboard stores in LA which are within close reach to the city center. i know victoria skimboards store is in laguna beach, but that is about 30? miles away from central LA. so, can anyone of you tell me where i can buy a victoria plane wrap board in central LA? thx alot in advance.

thats a pretty common board so i would say just go to surf shops and see if they have it. Or look up surf shops in LA and call um up

Yeah man, Almost every surf shop on the beach will have skimboards. I bought mine in huntington beach, but im not sure where you are going exactly. Good luck on the search.

theres a couple good shops on the beach at venice and santa monica. Just look for them.

Hit up some surf shops. Check out horizons west in santa monica. It's the old zephyr shop and they have free parking. Pretty legit people there. It was still open last time I was around there.

if you have the ability to get a car, i'd go to the vic store. you can get a sale vic for great deals, i bought a ML poly vac(or plan wrap, can't remember anymore) for like $200 a couple years ago, it had graphics from the previous cycle, but it looks pretty good and ride like the shit.

damn that sounds sweet. ill see if i can save some money for a car. id love to check out all the famous beaches from the movies and see the places where this sport originated.
really stoked on going, and it would be awesome if i could get a board for 200 $.

Just track down some old school surfers. There's a lot of cool people out there and so many nice breaks. Venice is one of my favorite spots and they just added a sick concrete park on the beach. Also really close to a lot of nice shops.

there plenty of solid completely legit shops run by old school people. If they don't have what you need they could probably tell you where to find it. Kennedy's in the valley is really legit too but that's a drive. I don't know if they still shape but they used to put out some really nice boards.

The kind of places where they'll knock down the tag price for you and give you a bag or wetsuit for free or half off. That kind of stuff that just spreads the love around.

it would be awesome if i could save some money on a skimboard which i then could spend on some skis.
