Good advice here.
I would definitely say for wildlife spotting and general sightseeing you should drive to Louise from Banff along the Bow Valley Parkway. You've then got the option of stopping at Johnston Canyon for some sightseeing along the way or any of the lakes around there. Once at Louise I would recommend hitting up Moraine Lake over Lake Louise itself - it's more picturesque in my opinion (the colour of the water is unreal) and the view of the Valley of the Ten Peaks is sick though you can do both lakes pretty easily and quickly once you're there.
If you want to drive slightly further afield then Takakkaw falls or Marble Canyon are worth checking out.
If you want hikes then the obvious one is Sulphur Mountain as it only takes a couple hours and you've got the option of taking the Gondola down. Cascade and Rundle are both easily accessible also though they are on the longer side in comparison. Otherwise there is a lot of easy hiking up at Sunshine. It costs a bit to get up there but the views are stunning and there's loads of wildlife.
To be honest there are so many options it depends on what you fancy doing. Either way you'll have a sick time though.
