Xanadu Ski Slope in NJ

Has anyone ever been? Are there any rails or is it just a little hill? Some friends and I are thinking of going to check it out. +K for any feedback

well. first it would probably help if it wasn't still undergoing construction, or not undergoing construction because i heard they went bankrupt. but yeah, i heard all indoor slopes have powder.

I don't know where it is exactly but every time I drive into the city I see the building. You can miss it if you drive in the way I go, its basically a huge building that slopes down. If I remember correctly it is also brightly colored.

funny you should bring this up. Although its not open the Governor of the fine state of NJ (sarcasm) stated yesterday that he is willing to put up the final $800 million to finish the project. As long as the developer agrees to change the outside of the building to not look like Legos. No shit, here is the article:

Yea the opening date has just been pushed back time and time again throughout the last couple years. Ive driven buy it a couple times in the last few months and it looks like its just sitting there, ive yet to see real construction taking place in about a year.

I wouldn't be surprised if the deadline gets pushed back even further, although i do know they definitely want it done before the superbowl in 2014 because it is right next door to giants stadium.

another article about this place. now the developers want to bring a partner, Related Development, to help them finish. That would be the best thing for this project. Related is one of the most successful developers in the area and Stephen Ross is a creative and smart guy.

The Meadowlands' stalled Xanadu mall/entertainment complex/indoor ski slope/boondoggle has been called "the ugliest damn building in New Jersey," and that was by the governor of New Jersey! So yeah, the place is a barrel of laughs, except that it has already cost New Jersey taxpayers $1 billion in financing, tax breaks and highway improvements. Two developers later, New Jersey has just unveiled the latest plan to complete the complex. Triple Five, which runs the Mall of America, is taking over, and Xanadu will be known as American Dream@Meadowlands when it opens in 2013, maybe. The original design was by the esteemed Rockwell Group, but it got bastardized along the way. Plans now call for a pale blue skin to replace the multicolored mess that Xanadu has become. Oh, and check out what's going on inside:

Water slides!!! >>
Triple Five revealed on Tuesday that it planned to spend $1.5 billion or more. It said it would expand the project to about 3 million square feet, from 2.2 million, by adding a water park and an amusement park, both under a climate-controlled, glass-and-steel dome alongside the New Jersey Turnpike. The firm has not yet acquired the land needed for that expansion.
New features will also be added to the main structure, including an ice-skating rink and possibly a rooftop outdoor movie theater, Triple Five said.

Sounds...plausible? Triple Five expects Xanadu American Dream@Meadowlands to outdraw the Mall of America, and it has a shot: If it ever gets finished, every spoiled brat in the tri-state area is going to be demanding a birthday blowout there. The Times has photos of the complex's unfinished interior, and it looks just as creepy as you'd assume a massive unfinished empty mall would. Click through for those.

East Rutherford. Right off the turnpike. I was there over the weekend for bamboozle and its just chilling there. Kind of ugly actually and they've completely stopped working on it

I was just thinking about this place. I was so pumped about it like 3 years ago when I first heard about it. Figured maybe they made some progress in getting it open. Guess not. I would definitely go this summer.

Its about time, project has been so fucked up its ridiculous.  They did kinda get screwed by the recession, but still, it should have been built better.  They should have started with the office buildings and got some revenue going before building massive parking garages and the ski slope.  The idea that this was going to be a massive mall just completely failed.  Indoor amusement park/water park makes a lot of sense because its near the city and theres nothing like that nearby (Cony Island?) but thats summer only.  Anyway if they can hype it up enough I think vacationers to the city can get pulled for the day to visit the place if its legit.  Also theres no tax on clothing in NJ which is how we get a ton of New Yorkers to come to NJ, I'm sure retail clothing stores would do well there also.
