Brighton vs bird

so i have had my season pass to snowbird the past two years, and it's been great, but i have been thinking that the days without any good snow really blow at snowbird, and was wishing that they had something more fun to do other than the little peewee park that they have. i was thinking about where to get my season pass to this year, and it seemed brighton was a good choice...my question is, does brighton have cliffs as good as snowbird? and does it get as much powder? my interests are first powder, then cliffs then park. what do you guys think?

did you not watch the freeskiing nationals...they were sending shit like 60ft in bulletproof conditions in the ampitheatre..no snow?? don't be a pussy

well there are cliffs everywhere and always very fun my favorite vibe of any resort. powder there is always good i think brighton and alta get the best snow. and the park is really fun there this year the jumps are going to be good. Also the park pass is nice it keeps all the little families and what not away i would go for it, but i work there so of course im going to say go for brighton ha

they both claim a 500 inch average although the bird usually gets more. brighton has some really sick terrain in bounds and some good sidecountry (cliffs, steeps, lines, even some pillows) and it dont think it gets skied out as fast even though its smaller than snowbird, plus a decent park and night skiing. but the bird is the word, you know this

well the jumps they finally built last season were good once they were up and this next season they should be even better, and iv heard a little talk about jumps going in to lower majestic but i doubt it.

I went to brighton this past winter. I was stoked form what I saw on their website, and when i got there i was bitterly disappointed. They had no jumps, and there were no lips onto any of the features. It was still fun, but more of a park just to fool around in. It looks like it would be fun on a pow day, but I think snowbird would easily beat brighton in that aspect with steeper runs and more cliffs.

brighton's park has some good stuff but its really choppy and not that much fun to lap in my opinion, ive only been to each a couple times but ive always had more fun at the bird

I've heard a few murmurs here and there that it just might be happening. Just as a side note, up at snowbird you'll routinely see big mountain pros sending it off cliffs, building insane booters, and filming with TGR, PBP etc

I haven't been to bird but here's my take on Brighton.

The Park is completely made for Snowboarders.  There was not one rail with a lip on to it.  They were either urban (which is ok) ride on, or just sitting there with no lip.  The only rails worth hitting were the urban ones.

However.... Brighton had some really nice Backcountry.  The tree skiing was perfect with nice powder and there is one run where you can ski some fun trees and go right to a mini park which is cool.


Also look into Solitude which is also in the same area.  Its very steep with alot of cliffs.  Also it is completely empty and the only con is that it doesn't really have a park.

I second Solitude. Same amount of snow, same quality terrain, but with a FRACTION of the skiers. but yes, there isnt a park

keyword days..... most resorts you could put weeks there instead of days, suck it up and learn to ski the BC. plus birds got the longest lift season, by far.

I'd stick with Snowbird.

Yes, the Baby Thunder park is coming back. I think the vibe at snowbird is 10x better than Brighton (yes, I'm a snowboarder). Brighton is nothing more than a fashion show. Brighton has some fun terrain, absolutely, but I don't thin it rivals the Bird at all. Yeah, Snowbird gets tracked out quick, but you have to know where to look. If you're willing to traverse a bunch, you can definitely find fresh snow a few days after a storm. And the trees never seem to get completely tracked out.

definitely agreed you can always find good snow at snowbird, but how do you know the baby thunder park is coming back? is that a for sure announcement or just a floating rumor? and how much does a park pass at brighton cost?

The vibe at Brighton is soooooo chill mane. But really stick with Snowbird. Brighton is full of dirty hipster gypsy pussy's from Alta and Brighton High School. Snowbird has the longest season, you can get much more vert, sure their park blows but there is stuff out there to do even in sub par conditions, quicker drive, and you might get to see the Snowbird mascot.

To the people mentioning Solly: I've got a bad taste in my mouth about Solitude. A few steeps, usually where the trees were though where it was very tight and sketchy as hell. Solitude is pretty much yuppy-ville which is good if it's a pow day, but if its not meh. I would probably chose Brighton over it.

I know its further away but Snowbasin is pretty sick. Again, kind of yuppy-ville..but lift tickets are not terrible and everything is world class. Park was in pretty sick shape (although not as good shape as I thought for the Dew Tour being there a month before). Some ridiculous terrain at Snowbasin though, a ton of acreage and is fairly empty on pow days (from what I've heard).

Bird is the shit. I get what u mean about the non pow days but the mountain has a ton of shit that you can play on just get good at butters and be creative. Plus nothing can beat the vibe of the bird waiting for the first tram on a pow day.

I would say If your a pussy like 90% of people on here who cant jump onto a rail I'd stay far far away from Brighton.. If you aren't a pussy you'll probably enjoy their many jibs and creative setups...

Also If you don't like a resort where you can get freshies all day when it snows by simply traversing to the many awesome zones easily available.. again I would stay far far away from Brighton..

i called snowbird and they said it will not be coming back....and probably never will. you sure? and does anybody know how much a park pass at brighton would cost? and if the regular season pass covers night skiing too? sorry i checked their site and they didnt have prices cuz its summer

ive skied and love both.  however, snowbird gets tracked out super fast.  i don't believe that the bird gets as much snow as brighton.  brighton is the shit for secret cliffs, quick traverses to nice pow runs, and the park is decent.  it's definitely set up more for snowboarders, but it kicks the shit out of anything snowbird will ever put up.  but then again, the bird has the tram, which accesses all sorts of gnarly terrain and tons of vert.  to me the tie breaker goes to least crowded of the two, which is brighton.  that's my 2 cents.
