My grandma owns several pieces of land out where she lives. On one of these pieces land she has a house she has rented and a lot of land behind it. A few years ago I went exploring back there and found a good sized pond. It seemed to have been built by beavers, but long ago so it was pretty legit. My grandma was excited to finally know about this because it made her realize that her property would be worth more in the event she sold it.
Last year in october or so she had problems with the property when the worst ecological disaster to ever hit Montgomery county happened right infront of the property when a gasoline truck fell off the road and spilled all its gasoline down the hill into the pond. Shit was really bad and killed all the fish and beavers.
That was bad and we felt bad for the guy across the pond who built a gorgeous house facing the pond because now he couldn't fish and shit out there. Fast forward to this summer and the asshole with the house back there built a road across the pond by putting dirt in it to build a land bridge. He also put a pipe under his land bridge and effectively drained my grandmas entire side of the pond. I am not sure if all the water washed down stream or stayed on his side, but now my grandma has no waterfront property on that piece of land and when she confronted the man and asked if he had a permit to build his land bridge he blew her off and didn't even respond.
He fucking stole a pond.
