Jeep wranglers

there was a thread about this like 4 years ago so i thought of makin a new one.
im lookin for a wrangler as of the moment but in the last thread some people said that they werent roomy. the last time i sat in a jeep i had a fuckload of room and im big. maybe its just in the older ones. i was just wondering if anybody else has a wrangler and if youve done anything to it.

I have one (just the basic 'X' model)... the backseats definitely aren't super roomy and when they are in there is basically no storage space. We don't have the backseats in any more and it's much better- we can comfortably fit two large backpacks (~70L) a bunch of other junk and have lots of space for my dog to move around.

Only change we've made to it is we've added a winch on front. Haven't used it yet and hopefully never will need it.

I'm actually looking for a wrangler right now. I have a 98 outback that is getting to be a pain to repair and even though I'd love another outback I hate the early 2000's. The only hesitations I have about a jeep are gas mileage and not having enough space for skis and whatnot. Anyone know if a thule will fit on a wrangler?

wrangler's are definitely fun, but I sure as hell wouldn't buy one and have it as my main car. they're absolutely horrible in the snow, it's just so light the weight distribution is way off. and in town they just eat up your gas for almost no reason.

my wrangler came with the little mounting tracks on the hard top. i cant see why you wouldn't be able to put a thule on it.

wranglers are super fun. dont get a 4 cylinder, they are underpowered. get a sport or rubicon. plenty roomy up front. rip back seat out and get thule roof rack and you are set. if you have a hard top, thule has gutter feet that lock onto the rain gutters that are over the doors.

Also charmander is an idiot.

What other vehicle has been around (and largely unchanged) for 65+ years?? They are legendary and the most capable mass produced 4x4 vehicle ever produced

Everyone should at least drive one in their lifetime

the jk is massively different than a cj2a... a stock tj wont take you anywhere a stock anything else will, and legendary comes down to matketing.

jeeps are shitty. theyre piss poor wuality, weak parts and overall lack of win is pretty much full of lose.

also, theyre impractical as fuck for anything. no bed, no seating, useless.

A TJ is more capable than anything  else out there built between the mid 90's-05 and thats without bringing into the discussion rubicon's...locked dana 44 front and rear axles, 4 wheel disc brakes, heavy duty shafts and u joints and 4.11 gears? Its unstoppable

And the legendary 4.0 which is one of the most bulletproof engines ever built..the only reason the switched to the v6 in the JK's is because the fuel efficiency of the I6 was so poor..

I agree with you about the JK being different obviously..but due do safety regulations and other factors you cant expect a vehicle to not change into something significantly softer than its predecessor

And they sure as hell arent practical..but if you buy a jeep for practicality youre a dumbass although I've heard nothing but good stories about the 4 door's capability

The only thing you're going to have a tough time fitting in your wrangler is ALL the girls that are going to want to s your d just for having one.

But really, they are shit. A lot of fun to drive, look good, and will take you anywhere you want to go. My only suggestions are to get a standard, not an automatic. Way more fun to drive but that is really more of a preference. Get a V6, not a 4 cylinder. They have a lot more power and it's much more reliable. And lastly, if you get one made in 97 or later the ride will be a little smoother because that is when they made improvements to the suspension.  But the older ones are badass too. You're going to love it. I should have never gotten rid of mine : (

Definatly wont regret the purchase. Ive had a 2001 4cylinder for 5 years now and i love it. I live in burlington and never have an issue getting stuck in driveways or getting to the mtn in storms.

A lot of people have been shiting on the 4 cylinder but i can still go 75-80 on the highway and get better gas mileage. 2 summers ago when gas prices went up everywhere i went people wanted to buy it from me because it was a 4 cylinder. I also think they stopped making the 4 a few years ago.

In conclusion wranglers kick ass. a convertible with 4wd is a win.

if you want a jeep and are worried about the room get a grand cherokee. i have a 99 grand cherokee with about 110k and i dont think ill ever get a different car. i dont have a lift in it but i put 31" tires on it and it will seriously go anywhere i want it to, its a 6 cilinder its great in the winter. it gets about 16 miles to the gallon and im 17 and i can afford it fine so i dont know why people complain about the milage on jeeps. and i have 2 subs in the back and theres still room for all my shit, plus it has the roof rack on it already so i can put my skis on top with no problems.

 my family has two, an '01 and an '07 and they are both sweet cars. my brother drove the 07' across the country with one of his friends, and all their stuff for college including skis and fit totally fine. def go with standard transmission, it improves gas mileage alot and is much better in the snow

This.  girls seriously love wranglers its up there with chocolate and oysters at the top of the aphrodisiac list

And if youre a single guy there is no better vehicle because theres plenty of room for anything you could need

did you just describe a jeep with lack of win and full of lose? are you even old enough to be sitting in the front seat of a vehicle?

and you also said theres no bed in a jeep? what kind of gypsy mobile do you rip that has a bed in it?

my jeep tj fits 4 pretty comfortably, its not useless at all.  its easy to work on, 4 cyl is decent on gas, and i can rip my roof off when ever i want. ive owned mine for 4 years and havent had any major problems with it.  dunno where you getting your facts from, but they are wrong, full of lose as you would say.  fuckin kids these days thinking they know everything.

I just got a pretty stock 03 sport. It dose indeed get the ladies, and to whoever said tthey wont go anywhere stock is wrong. It rips the trails pretty well.

its just my opinion, we've owned 3 jeeps, theyve all been terrible, my 72 gmc will go places my friends 98 wrangler wont.
and thats stock 1 ton running gear, small block, 31" tires.

Im gonna call BS on everything you've posted since you clearly know nothing about 4x4 vehicles or at least jeeps..you don't need anything heavier/stronger than a dana 44 in a vehicle that only weighs a hair over 3,000 lbs unless you intend to build some mud bogging trailer queen or a dedicated trail vehicle that tackles some very burly trails

Even my dana 30 front and 35c rear handle 35" mt/r's fine

True and I've never hated on rover's (except for the fact that 99% of have rimz and have never even seen a dirt road)..unfortunately you rarely see any of them doing anything remotely difficult unless its an old disco and those things are bad ass

you mean a quality crossover? It's not a truck and is more comparable to a dodge caravan in off road capabilities

How do you define quality? Toyota went cheap with an IFS set up which lowered their production cost because they didnt want to spend money to modify the prado platform which the FJ is based off of to incorporate a sfa

Have you ever even bothered to watch any footage of the FJ offroad?  It's quite capable stock.  However, I'd love to see what your dad's Dodge Caravan can do.
