Thanks. I figured some people might enjoy it. I'm not a nitrous crackhead like many but I enjoy some from time to time for sure. People in the festivals and show scene are more familiar with the nitrous mafia and all the sketchiness of the system. They can lose a couple vans full of tanks and still make a couple 100k at a festival. It's a real drain on the vibes too. It drains a ton of money from the festival and legitimate vendors, it's bring all kinds of sketchiness.

These guys have been doing this for years at east coast shows. Show after show with phish and many other bands. A couple of vans got busted all the way out at red rocks in colorado for a show. They know how to run an operation in even the most police loaded lot. constantly moving and popping back up, charging ridiculous prices yet there will always be a line. they have the system down. They can though a a couple thousand bucks to security to get  the tanks in with out it even hurting them.

shits crazy, i thought it was a good read and figured i'd post.

^Yeah man, I try to avoid that scene. Gettin back to the lot, everyone always starts in on the whippets, but I'd rather just chill and enjoy the sunrise. I don't need to kill unnecessary brain cells.

This year when I went to Camp Bisco. I heard rumors the security guards would beat the shit out of anyone who tried to sneak in a tank of nitrous. Now I know why. Didn't know that stuff was such a big thing on the east.

One time I was at the Berkfest passed out in my tent and woke up when I heard a loud PSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH noise- I awoke to find the nitrous tank guy was IN MY TENT filling balloons and there was a line of dirty hippies out my door.  Apparently one of the kids I let stay in my tent told the guy he could if he gave him three balloons.  I was < thrilled to say the least as I am not a happy waker at all.

At moe. lot in march this year for pittsburg i saw to dudes brawl over balloons, then a girl get punched by another dude. We all looked at each other and decided to get the fuck out.

If you thought 3 for 20 was bad the last few years, price jumped up to 1 for 10 all the way this summer on phish lot. It sucks that people trying to be all vigilante and keep the scene clean go after the wrong people. They're too scared to fuck with the crews, so they go after the poor kid running his own tank for his friends or giving out deals like 6 for 20. Then they're like " yeah we just stuck it to the nm". I think the scene has gotten better though, at least at fests. 08/09 were fucking scary years. Nitrous alley at fests was just a grimey sketch as fuck twisted dark carnival from hell.

If you want to do balloons at shows, look for friendly people. A lot of times it's not hard to spot the difference between a phish phan with a tank to get him to the next show, and the nm crews draining all the money out of the lot with horrible prices, and even worse vibes. Somebody threatened to shoot people at furthur bethel this year.

Crazy shit.

most illicit drugs are fucking stupid. if your life is that shitty and you're willing to gamble it go for it. i'd stick to the safer psychedelics and avoid the more addictive drugs like nitrous.

that was a good read. it seems that on the continuum concerts have shifted from getting a bit high and enjoying the music to getting really high and disregarding the music.

but i really dont know much about this, my personal opinion is that illicit drugs are for losers--for the most part.

Dude, at Dicks this summer it was 1 for $20. Still the longest line, people just going buck to get some balloons. They had one guy filling them up then the other collecting the money and handing the balloons off. People were literally throwing 20's at this guy and he wasnt even looking at the money, so I went up and tossed a $1 and the dude flipped out and told me not to come back... I just hopped back in and gave in the money though.

But pre-show there was this one wook who probably took like 6 trips to the tank and came back with 2 balloons in his mouth and 4 in each hand, then he would hopped in his car an suck them down like nothing,, then go back for more. Fucking ridiculous.

That's insane. I've always said that they could charge 1 for 20 and there would still be the longest line. Especially since it's in co and not north east.

Crazy shit though. People will spend 500 bucks in a night on balloons. I don't get it. Whatever though. People gonna do what they gonna do.

So you're either 12 or stupid, probably both. And nobody was saying that drugs are good for you.

To me being a product of rape from advertisement makes you much more a loser. People you cheer about alcohol and cigs but think people should burn in hell for smoking a bowl or doing a key bump. Also many of those people that love there booze drinking shitty beers like bud, coors, miller, and paying up the ass simply because advertising told them they were good beers.

When I would be broke and buy some keystones, I'd laugh at the people telling me it was a shitty beer while drinking an equally shitty beer that cost twice as much.

Also love how bud light is doing the year of the bills fan, panthers fan, and every other fan depending on what city you happen to be in. I'm sure there are plenty of middle aged men buying cases of it though to be a headier fan while watching their team on sundays.


/Pretty much unrelated rant but I wanted to say that somewhere.

Drugs aren't bad, using them recklessly is dangerous but come on. Labeling all drugs bad and saying they're for losers is ridiculous.

i dont frown upon a guy packing a bowl, eating some shrooms, etc

i also think cigarettes are the king of stupid drugs (nicotine). i still dont get why people start smoking them, do they really think the costs outweight any minimal benefits?

alcohol is by far the most abused drug, but i enjoy it most weekends.

i mainly meant drugs that are very addictive like amphetamines or nitrous.

Nitrous isn't really addictive. I mean it is atm, but not in a long term sense. The addictiveness of it is more that it's effects don't last long so you have to keep doing it to stay high. I don't anyone that does nitrous every day, or really know anyone close to that.

im no expert on drugs. but based on life experience and education, the abuse of illicit drugs is moronic for the most part. i've taken a couple classes at my university on drugs, they were not biased at all. the facts were presented and i formed my own opinion. im quite positive the prof for this class had done most the drugs we talked about too

heres a course description.

Surveys topics related to the effects of drugs on behaviour. Cellular mechanisms of action, drug absorption, tolerance, addiction, withdrawal, and placebo effects. Classes of drugs studied will include alcohol, tranquilizers, nicotine, stimulants, opiates, marijuana, hallucinogens, antidepressants, and antipsychotics.

i've also taken a neuroscience course studying the effects of many of these drugs. however, im sure you know a lot too judging by the confidence and coerciveness in your opinion

I never said drugs were good for you. You're the one who said that illegal drugs were for losers.

I know people who have a ton going for them that do some illegal drugs once in a while. Nothing wrong with that at all. People base way to much shit off of what they've heard about how drugs are so bad. Somebody eating some molly, doing a bump of coke... once in a while does not = somebody robbing houses and sucking dick to feed their addiction. For some reason people seem to think that it goes hand in hand.


The same with the nitrous situation. People link doing nitrous to the sketch balls selling nitrous at many shows so nitrous becomes the horrible thing, not the shady people selling it.

Idk, you can demonize anything, I just think it's ignorant to blindly call out shit you know nothing about and then call somebody else ignorant.

Also I'm not talking about your friends at your sweet little I remember my first beer high school parties. I'm talking about friends having a good time. Nobody is like, yo look at me, I'm eating a roll, I'm going to take a picture of it for my facebook YOLO album. Nobody does that shit. Well maybe the 16 year old wanna be ravers at their shitty dubstep shows.

I took a class exactly like this last year, and I'm pretty sure that, like you, my prof had taken just about every drug we talked about in class. It was one of the most interesting/fun/hilarious classes I've ever taken. The stories about my prof's travels in South America alone made the class worthwhile.

yea man, the class was fucking awesome. the prof was rad as fuck. im sure i could tell him i did shrooms on the weekend and he'd ask how it was and so forth.

all it comes down to is a LOT of drugs are fucking dumb to do. Bumping a line of blow every once in a while is NOT ok. Many people are susceptible to addiction off their first rail. Yes this is what i have LEARNED. but i also have two cousins who also learned the same thing--the hard way. One is dead (OD on blow), the other lost his job as an airplane pilot, his wife, his kid, and is now half paralyzed from blow--he can barely control his bowls.

Wow that's so nuts. You've changed my opinion. I didn't realize it was so extensive. Clearly you know a lot more about them, especially in the real world application. Sorry for doubting you young padawon.

I've taken a class called being around everything under the sun from the late spring to early fall all the time, for months every day. Then sometimes through fall tour, and to a lesser degree but still around all winter. Been that was for at least 5 years.


But of course, having done most everything out there, have friends that still do everything out there, seen people do even the crazy shit out there, seen what happens with the mix of different drugs, seen what happens without proper care of your body, seen what addiction does to people, seen how tough sobriety can be, seen people go through just about everything you can for better or worse relating to drugs.

But you're right, I never took a college class on it. Unqualified to have an opinion. But your brilliance shines above the waves of the choppy realm of the sea as the little childs toy boat floats around up and down and twists and turns and laughs and yearns from port to stern and some more of that shit simply because the whole use=abuse thing which I mentioned before it got kangfirmed.

im on my iphone, i couldnt really be bothered to put forth some extravagant argument to explain why most illicit drugs are bad to use.

i almost feel bad for how ignorant you are. you really do not know what you don't know. its sad.

drug abuse is really just the use of a drug for any nontherapeutic effect. so in this case i dont see why calling use abuse matters. it's not like you are buying balloons of nitrous because you have a tooth ache.

anywho, if you want to argue that using blow, meth, heroine, oxy, speed, etc. isn't dumb then you go girl.

Cool. I was researching drugs before wikipedia was even relevant. He probably knows a lot about drugs, but you overlook the fact that I could actually know some things too.

Yes, abusing drugs is stupid. Especially to a degree that's that detrimental to your whole life. At the same time life is full of bad choices. People eat shitty and have all kinds of horrible health problems. At least if you're going to do some drugs and see some music you're having a better experience than choking down some sketchy cheeseburger at a fast food chain.

^ one of the dumber things I've read. What's your view on prescription drugs? Does use = abuse or is that different? If it's different is that because it's doctor prescribed vs. something that isn't? Is it because you are taking it because there is a problem vs. taking it for fun? What if you're taking another illegal drug for pain or to feel better. Why is that so much worse than taking a doctor prescribed pharmy?


We're all going to die at some point. Life is a mix of keeping things in good enough shape while having a good time. If you aren't enjoying your life than whats the point? If you're enjoying your life without doing drugs good for you. I'm not knocking that, I'm not saying that you need to change that. I just think it's fucking ignorant when you not only spew your use = abuse deal but call people who simply do illegal drunks socially losers. I know many people that do some illegal drugs and are extremely hard working people that will probably go much farther than you in life. If them having a little fun makes them a loser, i don't want to know what you think makes you cool.


On the plus side I needed a good argument for no reason. Thank you for providing the necessary ingredients to get that out of my system.

I knew a ton about drugs before I had ever tried any of them. I've always been interested in drugs. Researching them since at least 8th grade eckerd drug quiz.


And when I said I tried drugs I meant my cousin let me take a hit off his spliff last weekend, and I've drank a couple times.
