Any Road Bikers?

Who on here road bikes? I ride quite a bit (100-120 miles a week usually) and have done so for a long time. I am looking at getting into racing this summer and into next year.

Currently I have a stock (other than the stem) Allez that I picked up in '05 and have ridden since. In the mail are a set of new wheels as well. The stock Alex rims are heavy as hell! I am, however, most likely picking up a new bike in the next month. I'm looking at a BMC SL01 and Cervelo S1 at the moment.

So, NS, if you ride, how much do you ride? do you race? what do you ride? etc...

btw... I know there have been some threads, but there hasn't been one for a while so i thought i'd start a new one

I just got into it this summer, cus I've been living on an island with a lot of road. been riding I think a '93 trek OCVS carbon frame.

your dad and my parents should hook up... then meet up to ride. this was their first cross country tour a few years back... http://townestrip.com/

second trip this summer was a bust because of my father's back about 1000 miles in, but he still does 100 milers with his friend and my parents are looking to do NE tours and such.

Just because it may not be the type of biking that you think is cool doesn't mean that its lame! Its super fun, but I do appreciate all types of biking. Hell, my other bike is a DH rig!

I used to ski race too haha.

i got into road biking around 12 and started racing at 14. just a heads up if you wanna get into it, its a fuck-ton of money: bike, license, registration, travel- its EXPENSIVE. Its a great time though, just dont loose sight of the fun part because i sure did. hope that helps

That is actually why I have stayed out of racing this long. The races I want to get into are mostly local, or at least within driving distance. My college's team drives out to some races nearby (sometimes staying the weekend) so I will be going with friends and hopefully the school will pay for some of it haha.

I used to ride a ton, but now that I row, I can usually get about a good 35-40 miles per ride.

ive got an old cannondale, picked it up cheap with stock everything.
upgraded to:
mavic cosmic wheels
dura-ace brake levers/shifters, derailleurs
new seat
shorter stem

basically everything is newer but the frame

i usually bike to work a few times in the summer and do a few 50-100 mile charity rides but i havent really done much biking this year at all. road or mountain actually.

just starting here, riding an older schwinn paramount with 7 speed dura-ace. I put some 26s on and do most of my riding on a "trail" near my house. It's 20 miles totally flat and I'm just going to work on riding one end to the other and back. No cars to dodge and the flatness lets you keep a constant HR.

I have been mt biking since i was like 6 and i this year i finally decided to get into road riding so i have been doing like 20 miles to work and back every day so about 100 miles a week. I really enjoy it and i have a canondale use to be my dads race bike, like 15 years ago so its pretty old but it gets the job done

i started out mountain bike racing back in the day, i was pretty good for my age but quit pretty early.

after a hiatus i got into the road game, i raced in the ECCC this year, and a bunch of provincial races. I ride 400km a week(250 miles) on a Marinoni VR2.

I personally wouldn't get a cervelo s1, you're just paying an arm and a leg for the brand name without getting the aerodynamics that cervelo is known for... that frame was industry leading in 2002, not so much in 2010.

for a great aluminum frame with quality components i'd look at a cannondale caad 9 or maybe see if you can get something used at the end of the race season.

I haven't been riding nearly as much as I used to because I've been busy, but I've been trying to at least ride 60-75 miles a week.  Also, my bike is red, but I couldn't find a good picture.

I ride and race road bikes. I live in a community with a huge road bike scene. (150,000 people and 13 high end bike shops) I'm currently riding a 2010 Cannondale CAAD9. Right now I'm racing crits and I'm really excited for some upcoming road races.

I'd be careful of getting a cervelo. Our shop has had to warrenty every single cervelo bike sold due a cracking frames, some customers have even had 2 or 3 frames crack. Sure their light, but end up being more trouble than a pedophile in a playground.
