HV 40 help

i already posted in media and arts.but no help there. hey guys i recently bought a canon hv 40. everytime i try to import video to imovie the video is all purple neon and green neon. i use a firewire adapter to import to my imac. any suggestions?

what are you using to capture it?
i suggest hdvsplit. its what most people use with their hv's and it works great.
