you are wrong and the gallons per day has been changing, but very slightly. We hadn't ever expereinced the magnitude of that pressure on earth ever....... so the PSI was somewhere in the 100,000 lb/inch-squared (if i'm recalling right) so the weight of that tank would barely stop the pipe if it were 1 inch wide.
last i heard you guys were still trying to figure out lightbulbs.........

Nope - it would Hydrate up almost immediatley due to the ingress of cold seawater.
Cold uninhibited seawater + High pressure = gas hydrates. The Hydrate Disassociation Temperature down there is <65deg F - the ambient Temp is 39 deg f - No Bueno.
That's why we needed to keep the oil flowing out of those vents, to maintain a pressure balance above ambient to prevent the ingress of seawater.
Seriously - these are some of the smartest people on the planet, and we have done this in 3 months. 3 months is VERY quick for getting deepwater equipment installed and operating... in fact it's more then very quick, it's nie on impossible....
