Computer connectivity conundrum

Assist me in my troubles ns, please. I know some of you are a lot smarter than you let on
2 years i bought a tosiba laptop. For one reason or another, it could never connect to the wireless network at home, apart from a few minutes here and there. Despite doing all the things that connectivity troubleshooting told me to do, nothing worked. Now, at school my internet worked perfectly, as it did in other places also. Literally just my house was the only problem.
So a little over a month ago, we bought a new wireless router, and it worked flawlessly, up until about 3 days ago, when it went back to exactly how it used to be, and not work ever.
I've tried pretty much everything i can think of, and nothing works. And if its important, there are 2 other laptops in the house that work perfectly, but mine is the only one running vista.
so what can i do....?
(i'm posting this from another computer, for all the smartasses out there who'd point out i'm online right now)

check the IP settings, i had connection problems and it was because it was obtaining ip and stuff automatically, checked the other computer in my house, put the IPv4 to connect to the same settings and it works fine now

this might sound stupid.... but make sure you are close enough to the wireless router... they don't reach as far as they say they do.

how many computers are on it? some routers have a limit for the number of ip adresses it can assign. For example, I was at a house with a ton of my family who all had wireless devices and all but about 2 or 3 of us could get on.

What is the error message you get when trying to connect to the network?

it's only 3 laptops at most that were connected to it at anytime. And as i said, mine was the only one running vista.
and it can't be distance, as it currently won't work sitting 5 feet away from the router, whereas i used to use it all over my house.
might be the ip address. i'll check it out. Thanks guys

probably an ip address conflict. just try repairing the connection?
sounds like you might have already tried that though. Try turning your router off for thirty seconds then on again and try to connect.
All times are Eastern (-5)
