Computer help: Hd picture is very choppy

 Any of you computer nerds out there know how to fix this problem?

Any video I watch that is in HD is slow and choppy..

The worst part is that I was playing around with my new cam that films in HD and the footage is also not running smoothly

any help would be appreciated K+

Sorry for dub post, first off.

Secondly, you probably can't. You can try programs that clean out your PC, delete unused files, close unnecessarily programs to free up ram... But if it's really THAT bad, your computer probably couldn't run it in it's prime.

Out of curiosity, what type of computer do you have? and how do you watch the videos from your camera? via usb or do you copy them to your comp first?

Post some computer specs, it could be graphics card, RAM, or CPU, or more likely a combination of em.

tried all that..it says it is a compaq Presario SR2002X (your average shit computer)

I watch the videos through a USB

the only thing im wondering is if maybe it is my monitor...because it is an LG 26" TV because my original monitor was to small

Is the TV HD capable? Is it hooked up through an HDMI?

And I know my USB ports suck and can't load HD video fast enough to be played... you might be having an issue there. Try copying one of the videos over to your computer and playing it from there, see if that helps

Your computer is old, a Compaq, has either 1 or 2GB of RAM (which is pretty bad these days, you'll want 3-4 minimum, and probably more than that to play HD video and edit HD video) and your computer has a shitty graphics card.  It's pretty much a fail in every sense of the word.

As for video from the camera, it's always going to be slower if you're streaming it through the USB because USB ports can only transfer information so quickly (depending on the port), and since the video is just data it's sending, it will probably be choppy.

Just get a new computer, they're stupid cheap these days.

Most likely not. It's probably already maxed out. Even if you do it'd be $100 or more and you can get a great computer for $600.

Prolly, I bet you can get them to find out what kinda upgrade you want and whatnot, but you still have a shitty graphics card, which may or may not also be a problem.  But yeah, upgrading RAM is actually stupidly easy.

Idk if my parents would ever allow for another computer because this one is fairly new....but maybe I will bring it in for an upgrade because it really has never been as shitty as its been for the last year

From what the other guy posted, the most you're going to get out of it is 2GB, you'd have to check what you have right now, but it may not even be that much of an upgrade.  That model was introduced in '06, so it's pretty obsolete now.  Computers become obsolete super fast these days, I had a Windows 95 til I was like, 12 (it was 8 years old).  And that thing could only run Asteroids, Centipede, Ski Free, and CHIP.  Shit those were the days, those games ruled.

Oh, to check what you have now, find your My Computer icon on your desktop or whatever, right click and go to properties, and it should be right there.  If it's less than 1GB, your computer is laughable, and if it's 1GB then a RAM upgrade might not do you much good.

Apologies for the dub post, but I just checked again, and your computer comes stock with 512mb of RAM, which is, seriously, laughable.  My laptop that just took a shit had 1GB.  I'd strongly advise you to get a new computer, try to convince your parents or something, because it's more than probably worth it.  The upgraded RAM will help, but I'm not totally sure if it will solve your problem or not.

That's a dope laptop (if you wanna be a fucking hipster).  But for serious, macbooks are pretty solid computers for all around stuff, editing is pretty smooth, but they're usually not worth the money.  They are absolutely ridiculously overpriced.

The one you linked isn't even an actual auction for a macbook, its for a Lockerz invite or something stupid.  Macbooks sell for absurd prices, but are pretty reliable.  If you can find a cheap macbook with decent specs I'd say go for it, but otherwise, I'd say stick with a PC.

they do seem overpriced.....my friend bought just bought one of the higher qaulity HP pavilion laptops for like 850$ shipped.....it has a large screen and runs very quick and efficient
