Motorola's Droid X: Yes or no?

got my X... pretty sweet

I went with the Incredible instead. The X in my opinion is HUGE and i would never want a phone that big. twice as large as most phones. Why dont go witht the incredible? looks cool and is small, The only plus you get from the X is possible the 720p video camera. but who films anything immportant with thieir phones these days?

Smallest smartphone around, 5mp camera, runs Android, touch screen, physical qwerty keyboard, and it's about as big as a credit card (although obviously much thicker than one).

Droid. Iphones there dope and shit but i just dont like apple as a company there mean and shit. Google is so much doper and motorolas like a added extra. do it man and buy me one to send it to NZ as well. CHur

back in the razr days, yeah. they've stepped up their game since then.

the razr was an exceptional phone at that time. it almost made top 10 in pc worlds best 50 gadgets in 50 years and sold over 100 million phones!

since now and the razr, moto has done pertty badly. but they certainly have stepped it up like you said, and theyre even planning on putting a 2ghz processor in a phone before 2010 is over.

Very true. Apple is very proprietary and closed, whereas Google is open and just plain awesome.

As for the whole Droid VS iPhone debate... There are lots of advantages and disadvantages to each, and even then those advantages/disadvantages will vary between people. For example, most people love having iTunes to sync their iphone and keep everything up to date. But some also hate being stuck using iTunes and having no officially supported alternatives.


So it really is a pointless debate. Same with Mac VS PC, PS3 VS 360, etc. etc. But on that note...

iOS: has a much nicer touch screen/interface than most other devices on the market. It just feels so much smoother. Camera is also pretty good and a lot of people like the UI. It also has built in video chat, and eBook support while Android requires 3rd party apps. Apple also has a lot mroe apps than Android (don't know actual numbers).

Android: Android is much more open, and therefore allows users to customize the UI without hacking (yes I know you can jailbreak an iPhone), and allows developers more freedom. It also has the awesome Google Maps turn-by-turn navigation and allows other apps to integrate other Google apps into them. Another major thing is Flash support, which Apple refuses to support for some reason.

iPhone 4: Slimmer than the DroidX, smaller but higher res screen, and smaller overall size.

DroidX: Slightly larger than the iphone, has a funny lump on the back, but has a massive 4.3inch screen.

Just got the X yesterday and I couldn't be happier.

The feel of the phone is rock solid, like I could kill someone by beating them with it. It is really nice to hold, and I can't stop admiring the build of the device.

The screen is awesome as well. I know the ip4 has a higher pixel density, but jesus, the screen on the X is the size of an ip4 itself. I also can't pick out pixels unless the phone is about 9" from my face.

The bombshell for me is the keyboard! I was dead set against getting anything without a physical keyboard, but the GIANT screen makes typing a pleasure.

The web browser is tidy, and with the multitouch of the X, I can safely say this is the first phone that matches the ease of an iphone for internet use.

In general, every navigation task I encounter is met with a well-constructed way of doing so, though a few things had me confused at first.

The only problems that I have read about are software issues, but I don't really notice them because this is my first Android phone. I could imagine that these problems will be remedied by the 2.2 update later this year.

I had 2 options at my upgrade:

1. Get a free texting phone at upgrade and continue with life, all paid for by mommy

2. Pay for this beast, plus the monthly data package, using ski equipment money (so what, ill still have like $1500 to spend)

I have an incredible and love it.

does the incredible have a physical keyboard? and whats htc sense ui?

and its a theme by HTC that makes it look different, comes with a bunch of widgets and has a better (IMO) keyboard (onscreen)

1) No.
2) All i know is that its really shitty and slows down your phone bad. I have a friend who got rid of his senseui on his original droid and now its about 5 times faster.

HTC sense is on htc phones... my evo has it and its so smooth. the sense ui from the original droid is prob made my motorola but its not the same as htc sense
