Replying to Asus G73Jh vs macbook pro

i do NOT want this to be a windows vs. mac thread. i want to know which would strictly be the better machine for editing. the asus has better specs but i like the reliability of a mac. i have never used FCP. would it be worth getting a mac to use that or is it about equal to adobe premier pro? i would like to know some of these things as well as personal opinions. i was looking at a macbook pro with i7 proccessor, 4 gb of ram, and a 500 gb hardrive. tell me ns what is most practical?
