do you think espn will have the stones to build a jump for triples? can you even imagine the ratings for something like that and the resulting montages hyping it...
Last thing the x-games need right now is a triple. Last years big air was great. If it's the same format, same tricks, same telecast for that matter, I would be happy.
Even if sammy went and did a triple (assuming other people still can't do it by then), something stupid would probably happen and he wouldn't win. Like audience voting or something like that. That would suck.
I'm from Vancouver, and I have red hair. I would casually say something about skiing or that I'm going to the hill the next day in conversation, and every adult in listening range would say OMG YOUR JUST LIKE SHAUN WHITE!!!!!! HES THAT SNOWBOARDING GUY ON THE TELEVISION!
dude omg the x-games are gonna be soo crazy cuz two people landed a triple. like omg does the x-games have the bawlz to build a big jump?
these threads are stupid. quit trying to hype up the x-games. It's half a year away. the same thing happened last year when people started doing more and more doubles during the end of the season/summer
espn does know whats going on... its all over the front page of their action sports website
im not saying the jump would be an exclusive triples contest, i just mean do you think they would accommodate a jump big enough to do it...
nor am i saying triple would definitely win, just that it would be big enough for them to go down
also to those who still pretend they're in the stone ages, x games got it right by abandoning the text voting and had qualified judges doing rapid fire scoring
They should play "skate" or something instead. I dont understand how you could possibly judge tricks when they are all double and triple whirlybirds. Obviously a triple will win over a double. Not because it should but because it is simply the laws of the x-games.
I agree. Mt Snow used to have the P.I.G. Air. Qualifying open jam top 5 play "PIG" until there's a winner. You had to call grab, rotation, and all that.
It is the law of the X Games that trips will beat dubs.
X-Games see progression like this formula:
triple off axis rotation x amount of rotations + grabs = win
Pasty C. and Bobby B. much respect for being able to drop the trip down. Always been a big fan of Pasty C.'s skiing, i'm not hating on anyone for throwing a triple. It's fucking ballsy to do, not even counting doing it switch.
It's be dope to see at X, because purely it's X, that's what we've grown to see at Aspen, along with each year a more and more progressive, insane, and straight up nasty slopestyle course. This has been getting crazier and crazier every year since Aspen/Snowmass contracted with X.
Again, Can't wait to see if X & Aspen/Snowmass will have the cojones to build a large enough booter for this to go down. I think it's important that they stomp it in competition and solidify it.
triples are harder to do than doubles, or shifty 180's, therefore should win in a big air contest. If it was a style contest last year BB wouldn't have won, but I'm pretty sure most would agree he deserved his win
it doesn't even matter, xgames is the biggest shit show in our sport, the only good thing about it is that its broadcasted nationally. It's only a mater of time till dew tour starts having a big air event, which will be a thousand times better then xgames
I enjoy watching the X-Games just for the coverage of these sports I don't get to see on TV anywhere else. If only ESPN were more open-minded and could get some decent judges and finally fire Sal Masekela. I will still watch the X-Games though...burning inside with rage.
Personally I'd much prefer it if the x-games judged more on style than on technical ability most of the top pros can do doubles and a lot will be aiming for triples now so its not really much of a contest. Bobby Brown's win was awesome cause his was technical and steezy as, but an ugly forced triple would just look horrible and not really be what I think freestyle should be about.
well im pretty sure the audience, skiers and gapers/unlearned people, would mostly vote for the triple. the only people who wouldnt be awed by it are the ones on here who like style over technicality of a trick.
+K, gets ridiculous, seems like every trick skiers were stomping at big air '10 was being compared to something shawn had done in practice or something he had been working on
nah not necessarily. viewers want to vote for the "fan favorite" 2 years ago simon dumont won x games big air. he beat pk hunder who did a regular and switch double cork 12. simon did a double front with a laid out superman (which imo did look sick) and a sketched out misty 10. then beat jon olson who did a switch kangaroo 9 and 10. simon did the same thing as the first round. just sayin dont be surprised if simon competes and wins with a dub by beating sammys triple.
