So seeing Smugg's TR's for the past year or so, and coming to the realization that with a little work you can ski year round in Utah, I decided to ski the Main Chute off of Baldy at Alta, on July 7th (the one he references in his thread). I think this was my 10th consecutive month skiing in Utah, and it's already got me thinking about august.
I parked on the road since Alta was getting a new parking lot or something... hiked up under collins, then crossed the ridge of Baldy heading towards the bird. There is a sketchy little climb in there where the tips and tails of my skis on my backpack were hitting rocks and making it awkward. Shredding down the rock littered snow in shorts and sunglasses was the best feeling i've felt since the last time I skied. The whole trip took about 3 hours.
Next time I should save 2 hours and try to just take the tram and walk over from there.
the view from the parking lot. you can almost see it up there.
timpanogos in the distance. one of the only things skiable in august.
you can almost see my truck down there on the road... jk. but you can see a good view of flagstaff and beyond.
oh, hello skis. I haven't seen you from this view in awhile...
And of course, a GoPro edit. The camera died halfway down, but you get the point. i know, i know.. i can't edit. i just throw it all together in imovie. tight.
