this.
but most helmets (say like $60, $70 and up, wouldn't go lower) have a wide range in quality, but anything in that range (^here^) protection wise will all be about the same.
go to shops and find something that fits you well. thats #1. then just look for something that looks good for your style, and buying a light helmet is always nice also.
second post i know forgot to add,
any helmet you buy will have a padding kit with a ton of pieces, i'm sure you know, so really whatever helmet you buy, as long as its in your size, you can really dial in the comfort to your preference.
i was looking at the shiv also (and smith maze, can't go wrong with a like a 10oz helmet) , but they're a lot, bought the revolver, like it, its all preference though.
Smith Holt.
They can be had for pretty cheap because the Maze took over.
its nice. its real low profile, pretty light. i like the way it looks, don't like a lot of brim, but i think the little bit looks cool, and it doesn't have a bunch of holes and vents all over the top which i like, looks cool and you can put stickers all over if your into that sort of thing, ive got like 5 on it right now. i don't use the ear flaps, i have a beanie underneath. i kind of use the goggle channel, but not really. i don't have any discomfort of pressure points from my goggle strap in the helmet, so i just have like the thinnest pad in the pad kit for that area. i don't think the goggle channel does a lot, for me personally, but if you have had previous discomfort from goggle straps, then it would be nice for you. it doesn't have a ton of vents like some helmets, or an airflow system through the shell like the shiv does (it actually has one, but the shiv's is more sophisticated) but my head never gets hot in it, but my head doesn't sweat a lot anyway, even on hot days.
lot of useless info i know here are the points:
-low profile
-pretty light (weight is not an issue, doesn't cause problems)
-goggle channel - don't use it, but if you have problems with strap discomfort, you would probably like it.
-no issues with venting / hot head, but i almost never do
-i like the way it looks, but thats your preference.
