Dual boot your computer (Two operating systems)

We had some computers in tech my freshman year like that. I don't know how the did it. They were pretty dope. I don't really remember how they preformed tho.

My dad duel booted his mac to run windows and what ever mac is. Our families computer runs linux and windows.

I used to dual boot vista and ubuntu linux and at one time I was triple booting vista, xp, and ubuntu and it all seems to work pretty seamlessly. The only drawback I experienced is limited space and limited access to files . Ubuntu could view vista's files but vista could not see ubuntu's. I'm not sure if this problem has been resolved in windows 7.  I recently moved from xp to windows 7 and I am very pleased. You may want to reconsider keeping xp. I have found whenever I dual boot I find myself always using one OS or the other.

yeah i dual botted my ps3 to run ubuntu linux and the ps3 operating sytem .. it was the dopest shit ever until they came out with and update that made me get rid of it

Ive had dual/triple boot computers before. Its pretty simple.

Create a new partition for the new OS (Windows 7 in the case), and install there. Make sure to make it large enough for windows 7 to have extra room, but also small enough that it wont mess up your XP files [I cant stress this enough- very important].
When you boot up the computer, it will give you the option of Windows XP and whatever the other partition has on it (This menu should look familiar if you've ever started in safe mode, they're very similar).

Alternately, you could get a second hard drive and put Windows 7 on there. This costs extra money, and is only worth it if you think you'll keep Windows 7, but also want to keep XP. In that case its VERY worth it, as this option allows plenty of space for both OSs as you install more programs and download copious amounts of music. Worst case scenario here is that you erase Windows 7 and gain tons of space for your XP install.

That sucks, I remember reading about how you could do that when the ps3 first came out. However I did just find an article that said the ps3 might soon be able to be cracked much like the psp was allowing you to download games and save them to your hard drive in which case I'll finally break down and buy one haha

Wow, precious XP? Every once in a while I come across a computer at school that has XP and it's like dealing with a retarded baby compared to Windows 7.
