i'm looking to move out west some time in mid december. i know places will start filling up the closer we get to ski season so i really want to try and grab one within the next month or so. what do people usually do in this situation? just sign the lease and pay rent even if no one lives there for a few months? or will sometimes the landlord let you reserve a place with a deposit or something?
From what i've seen places really start to disappear around Oct 1. Why should a landlord hold a place for you when he could get a few months of rent instead?
Why not head out in September? Find a pad, get a job, and get settled before the season starts.
