does anyone have any experience with using a mac os x emulator to run FCP? i just got a new Windows 7 computer so im not getting a mac any time soon. But it does have 6GB of ram (and im upgrading to 8) and a 500gb internal hard drive so i think its fairly capable of running something like this. Im using Vegas Pro 9 right now and im fine with it, but many people seem to love FCP so i may want to give it a try.

too much uncertainty. i would not want to run osX on a pc. you are the smart ass who got a viao. you are stuck with vegas. lol. hackintosh is the only way i think. otherwise google is your friend

yeah yeah i know i just really wanted to stick with windows and vegas because im so used to it and like it. but it seems almost everyone else uses fcp so thats why i asked. and ive been doing research on using an emulator and so far everyone says even with 6gm ram or more, rendering would take forever and most likely not even work. so im sticking to vegas for now. i dont think there are that many huge differences anyway.

well i will suggest to you, and if i had the ability to force you i would, but you MUST use adobe premier pro cs5. shit is as close as you will get to fcp, if not better in some aspects. they are very similiar so if you switch to mac later on it won't be that bad of a transition. when i used vegas a few years back i HATED it compared to premier. it may as well be windows movie maker

nahh vegas is wayyyyyyyyyy better than WMM imo, especially Pro 9. but i actually did a Premiere trial a while back and didn't really like it. but, i am hurt right now so i have a ton of down time, maybe ill download it again and try it out again since that was a while back.

allready regretting your computer choice? NS tried to tell you but you wouldnt listen.
My solution: use premiere pro until you can get a mac
windows movie maker > vegas

no i am not regretting, in fact i really like it, but im just interested as to the upsides of FCP vs Vegas for editing things like ski edits, and i dont see that many so far. and you cannot actually seriously say WMM>Vegas because that is a complete and utter lie. And i may use Premiere pro, not sure yet.

I would honestly rather make a simple edit with just timed cuts in WMM with no titles/effects than deal with the vegas shitshow

do you call it a shitshow because you dont know how to use it? or do you not like the interface or what.. because im used to it and dont find anything wrong with it. and im not into making edits like the ones you speak of, although sometimes i do make when i just want to put up footage rather than try to make a good edit.

you can make a perfectly acceptable edit without titles and effects. Timing is 95% percent of editing. I obviously would not actually use movie maker I was just expressing my hatred with vegas. I know how to use it like I do with Premiere, and vegas blows. Do yourself a favor and convert, you will never go back.

we'll see. if you like timing then why premiere over WMM? im just wondering what it is about premiere that you like more than vegas.

You wasted your money on getting 6GB's of RAM and a 500GB hard drive on a Windows 7 PC. Ouch.
