K2 2011 Lineup

I dunno if anyone has seen the new K2 lineup but I'm a little disappointed. It seems that they have increased the waist width on all there skis by around 10cm. This to me is kinda unnecessary and makes the hellbents a pure powder ski and a little big for my liking. Now the Seths are almost the size of last years hellbents but there not full rockered so it eliminates a 115~120cm full rockered powder ski, and now the kung fujas is what kind of takes the place of the seth, but the dimensions and flex are different...

I'm pretty sure the new Seth's and Hellbents have the same amount of rocker, which is a lot.

Either way it kinds screws over the line up. If it is full rocker then it just replaces the old hellbent and now you have a less versatile ski and your left with no ski thats 105 and "some" normal camber... and the NEW hellbent is just an over sized over weight pow ski at 132cm.... I have the 08 seths and hellbents, and I dont think they needed any adjustments

I think k2 knows what they are doing and until a lot of people have been on the new line and there are some solid reviews im going to assume that they made these changes for a reason, to make better skis. I dont think you should be so quick as to jump to conclusions about k2's line if you have yet to see or ride these skis in person.

This is where your entire thread fails.

Hellbents are a pow ski. They are supposed to be fat. 130 mm waist is perfectly normal for what the skis are.

For those 3 skis their purposes are all suited better by the increase in width, as hellbents have always been a pow ski, obsetheds have always been a charging ski, and the kung fujas is an all mountain ski, and pep skis so much powder that it wouldn't make sense to have anything less than a 100 mm waist.

the seths tip rocker starts right under the toe piece so they are pretty much full rocker.  definitely the largest tip rocker of any ski out there.  should be damn near unsinkable.  from all of my work buddies that got to take them out at demo days they said they were an absolute riot.

I would have to disagree... I own the 08 seths and hellbents and have skied some serious deep snow with both and I really don't think the hellbents need to be any bigger, not to mention heavier. Matter-of-fact I think the seths are already big enough for almost any situation. If you need more than 122 under foot to keep afloat, your doing something wrong... as for the fujas, just because they are Pep's pro model that doesn't mean they need to be suited to extreme deep powder. Watch Contrast, you'll see him skiing hellbents anyways..

i'm glad i bought the '10 kungs. they were exactly what i wanted and the '11 have nothing that i want: wider, softer, poorer graphics, too much rocker. not to say those are bad things just not what i wanted.
