Whenever I go to a concert or music festival I always feel like there would be nothing more fun than touring and playing shows. Like last year at a Pains of Being Pure at Heart concert I was like considering quitting skiing haha.


Anyone else feel this??

I have a bunch of friends who just left a few weeks ago to tour with warped, they are having the time of their lives. I have another friend who just got done managing a european tour for a metal band and right when he got back he went on tour with is own band. best lifestyle ever. until you make it and can tour in a bus instead of a van, then its even better.

i played one song with a band this year during a show and FUCK it was the most orgasmic experience ever (after skiing of course). yes i would like to have a real band and YES touring looks fucking awesome.

Yeah and to build on what i said, playing a show is like the second best feeling ever (behind skiing pow). Music is jeopardizing my skiing haha

Touring is fun festivals are fun. I've been doing it pretty religiously for 3 years. I go to a fair amount of shows in the winter but you don't have to quit skiing. the summer is when everything is hoppin. Summer festivals and tours.

I'm not in a band right now. I did record with some people at nateva this weekend that was pretty fun. I might do some promoting for the heavy pets on their tour if I decide to hop on

Touring would Be the shit. But the only problem I see is the progrssion aspect. Like skiing you can get better and try new tricks. Try to get better. but touring, your just playing the same songs over and over. Although it does get u in killer shape

You need to roll deep. Bands that play the same setlist every show int eh same order, not very cool. gotta mix that shit up. I would never tour with a band that didn't have a solid song base. The pets are rolling 93 songs deep right now plus any random covers so I might take up the offer and tour and promote.

I've thought this, in high school I played in a ska band. We were never very good and our biggest show had probably 80 people watching but it was an amazing feeling. Senior year we got together with some other friends and played a song called "ska wars", "all i want is more" by reel big fish and one other original I cant remember in front of about 1300 people at our senior celebration, probably one of the funnest things I have ever done.

Hey OP, you live near Denver right? Im down to go tour. Im classically trained on the Oboe and I'm very inexperienced with ableton and reason. I think we can do it for sure. what do you play?

I agree, touring and playing shows in front of a ton of people seems like it would be so fun. I used to play in a metal band and occasionally play with a church band, but never experienced something as awesome as going on a tour.

No way! I would have definitely gone just for ETID. I don't really like escape the fates new singer and we had two weeks to rehearse for a summer long tour so I said eff it.

they're pretty informative, but just prep yourself to see some of the nerdiest geekiest fuckers you have ever met. If you aren't on their mailing list I'll hit you up next time I'm heading to one of the meetups. depending on how proficient you are in ableton already, I could teach you a few things too.

Its hard to really know how proficient you are with such a huge program!! And I'm not too worried about nerdiness, I'm an electrical engineering student and I plan to work with electronic music professionally so I'm sure there would be lots of older versions of me there.

I'd just be worried they hate on noobs a ton there. Im not very experienced at all.

I just finished my last year of piano lessons this year, wound up performing at my teacher's year end recital and it feels sooooooo good when you choose a gnarly piece and nail it. Justifies all the 21 hours I spent practicing the week before hahaha.

Music is the one thing I could give up skiing for. Its something I often consider doing, so that I can just focus 100% on music and hopefully go somewhere. Hard as fuck to actually pull off, but soooo worth the effort.

Already given up on skiing. Sold all my shit for college money and to get a new guitar and an amp. I played a few shows with an old band 2 years ago in highschool and it was the shit. I hope to join or create a band in college and repeat the process.

Why not do both? I play in a band now and again to make a little extra money and were all working at the same mountain so we get the best of both.

Yup. I'm planning to start a little dj'ing/ producing next year. Ski or school all day, do music all night.

I'm pretty sure Andrew Hathaway still skis quite a bit.
