I just saw that Starcraft 2 is coming out soon and I was amazed because after 12 years I figured that they had scrapped the idea. Who else played this game in like middle school?

No, just no. Starcraft is a PC game, and it needs to stay that way. The DS doesn't have the graphics to make it look nice, which in personal taste is a key factor to a game now-a-days, and the controls would be difficult to make work.

Oh right, thats why it came out for the N64.. Shit now I remember! Haha, no but seriously. For someone who loved SC 1, they arent going to care about graphics. And its a touch screen, you can do anything with it, controls would be easier in fact.

I know they don't own it. Why can't Nintendo just be original lately? All that they have done with games is remake them over and over and over again. I honestly wasn't that impressed with what they had to offer at E3.

I was a Diamond ranked 1v1 and 3v3 and Platinum ranked 2v2 Terran player before the beta went down. Can't wait. Already so many amazing custom maps out. Ranking system is much more fun than the SC1 system, new units are awesome, all and all its arguable the best game to come out in the last 5 years, and without a doubt the best RTS ever made.

I would have to agree. I have been in the beta for a quite some time now and it is just awesome. Everything is balanced very well now and its very challenging because there are so many different routs you can take up your tech tree and such. So far the best RTS game ever made and even the custom maps after a few months are very well done. Thank you Blizzard for bringing my most memorable childhood game back to life...

SC2 --- Buy it when it comes out.

Well it is very well balanced but there are some issues still. Even after the nerf Siege Tanks are stupidly OP. Archons are useless. Mothership is mostly useless. They reduced Thor's model size, which was not needed really at all (although it makes them way stronger against Zerglings which is nice for me). They need to make Ultralisks smaller because, being melee, they get caught on stuff too easily and can't dish out damage (Ultras are pretty pointless at this stage). Voidray range nerf was AWESOME because it stopped that cliff exploit vs Marines, but they need to be nerfed more. You can't really counter them as Terran except by either out-expanding or by having a timing push that gets off when they only have a couple out. Roach needed either a higher food count or a big nerf, but they got both, and now they kind of suck, so Zerg is pretty much forced to go ling/hydra and then just get owned by a Terran mech build. Phoenix's also kind of suck.

The one thing I do LOVE using Mothership for though is, you do a 2v2 as Protoss/Terran. Terran goes Ghosts, and Toss goes Mothership. You run out there to fight and (should be) MASSIVELY outnumbered. The enemy will think they have won easily. Then you use Vortex with the Mothership and get as much of their army as possible. Current strategy vs Mothership is to simply run your whole army in to the Vortex (which is one of the reasons Mothership isn't very good). So they run their whole army in to the Vortex. Then Terran drops a Nuke on the Vortex. Nuke drop time and Vortex duration are almost exactly the same. So their army comes out of the Vortex and BOOM! Nuke decimates the entire force. People rage SO HARD.

Massive patch just released, beta phase 2 seems like it will be running today or in the next couple of days. All game modes now unlocked, new achievements, can talk to people playing WoW, and some minor zerg balance changes.

Why do you like COH better because the graphics are different or because its WWII style? Honestly blizzard isn't know for its graphics or sophistication mainly. Its made to be very fun, very competitive, challenging and super well balanced. I would like to hear any argument about any game that has as much time spent on balance and character ability as blizzard has. Honestly SC is one of my favorite games and so far SC2 has been awesome in my own opinion and the re playability on that game is far greater than any other that I own.

Also look at blizzards reputation with games like WOW, Diablo II and SC.. I would have to disagree that COH is anywhere close to Blizzards games.

Played it. Like it a lot. Nowhere near as good as SC2.

Starcraft 2 isn't supposed to be realistic. The reason SC2 is so good is because of the insane amount of different strategies and combos possible. Aside from the insane ghost/mothership combo here are a few other ridic strategies that totally work, just to name a few.

1) Build barracks, factory, and starport immediately before even getting a supply depot. Get one banshee with cloak out as fast as possible, before they have detection or anti-air. Rape with a single unit.

2) Rush reapers against a zerg fast expand, send your first reaper with an SCV. Distract with reaper then build bunker right next to their FE, get the reaper in it, GG you already won.

3) Put a pylon at the bottom of a Terran player's base, energy field reaches to the top of the cliff, warp in Dark Templars FTW

4) Get Thor's and Medivacs. Get about 3 of them with their upgrade ability that does stupid damage. Drop in back of opponents base, 1-shot their HQ, and fly away before they even notice.

5) TvZ, get one of each kind of building. Reaper harass in to hellion harass in to banshee harass into dropship/hellion harass.

6) Ghost nuke offensive vs zerg.

Just a few of the gnarley crazy strats that have surfaced in the beta.

Also CoH is nowhere near as crazy technical when it comes to micro/macro. And of course, custom games. Blizzard custom games just cannot be matched.

yeah i can see though that SC2 isn' t for everyone, it takes quite a bit of research and learning before you' re any good. In the beginning learning defensive strategies just takes some effort. Especially if you never played SC1.

Play Terran and just do a real basic marine/marauder timing push around 45 food and you can shoot into at least platinum league with basically no knowledge of counters, scouting, matchups, micro, or anything really. Just memorize the build order. Seriously its stupidly easy. Way easier than Starcraft 1. I'm sure the other races have these easy strats as well (voidray rush comes to mind), but I only play Terran so I don't really know them.

ya it does take some time, thats why i was always so shit at SC, never took the time to actually get good. this year when i was bored i took out SC1 just for jks, and i was getting fuckin owned by a bunch of 12 year olds and shit

Nah you'll do just fine in platinum league with that strat. You might not get to Top 10 Diamond doing it, but you'll hold your own in Platinum. Even in Diamond league you can still pull it off. I use it on Zerg still when I'm being lazy and can't be bothered to go mech. And vs Protoss you basically just do the same thing but throw a ghost or 2 in there for EMP and you will rape.

I just figure, I was awful at Starcraft 1. AWFUL. REAL BAD. But I'm like top 10 Diamond league (or was before the reset) in SC2, so I figure either its easier or everyone else got a whole lot worse.
