This summer I want to compile all the good footage I've shot over the past two years into one edit, just for fun for my friends and whoever wants to see it. It was all shot on a DVX100b.
There's just one problem - the year before last I shot 4:3, and this past year I shot 16:9 (squeeze).
My question is this - is it worth it to upsize all the 4:3 footage so it fits in the 16:9 video frame? To be honest there won't be much from two years ago but there are some bangers that I just don't want to pass on (considering that I haven't done anything with that footage yet, I think its fine to use - so no, leaving it out is not an option).
I have done this in some instances already - this "teaser" has some of those shots, from :19 to :36 was all upsized from 4:3 to fit in the 16:9 window: http://vimeo.com/12939031
The alternative would be to leave it as is and either have the horizontal black bars of 16:9 clips on a 4:3 screen or the vertical black bars of 4:3 clips on a 16:9 video. Either way there's that annoying empty space there.
Premiere seems to render quite well, I was just curious as to what the higher up videographers on here had to say and whether they had experienced anything similar.
Thanks in advance to anything and everything you can provide me, I appreciate it.
Cheers!
Milos
