Compression question!!

i use a canon hv40 and i film in regular hdv but when i am compressing my videos to put on the web they lose alot of quality i think i am putting it on the wrong settings on final cut. What settings should it be on for me to get the best Quality out of my camera.

im to lazy to post all settings but search it in the searchbar above ^^^^^^^^

search something like 'vimeo settings'
