germany invented the jet engine too

also german scientists told america how to build the atomic bomb.

also the reason we got to the moon before russia was because we kidnapped the ss nazi rocket scientist werner von braun to head our space program. russia had done the same with another german rocket scientist but apparrently our nazi was better

#3. okay... sorta right... but Von Braun had ulterior motives that he wanted to accomplish, and didnt hold the crazy mindset of the SS.

Korolev was a fucking genious though... Von Braun had been working on the shit for years and Korolev caught up and for a long while, surpassed him.

Basically, it was a whoever had the most funding sort of thing though...

I totally agree. Even as a British national, I really hate the dredging up of the war every four years, and the way it is trivialised in the press.

England and Germany are important trading partners, aswell as close political and military allies, it's not the 1940s anymore.

Fuck the British press, and best of luck to Germany

Hans von Ohain is considered the designer of the first operational turbojet engine. Frank Whittle was the first to register a patent for the turbojet engine in 1930. Hans von Ohain was granted a patent for his turbojet engine in 1936. However, Hans von Ohain's jet was the first to fly in 1939. Frank Whittle's jet first flew in in 1941."

Why are we making analogies to war, who should have done what after the war, who is smarter, etc. over a football game? I'm currently living in Berlin taking a semester at the University. I've been to all the public viewings and its been an amazing experience. Never knew a nation could be so passionate about a sport. But in the end everyone still knew it was only a game. Everyone just had a blast celebrating their countries success in such a storied tournament.

everyone loves to hate the team in the best form. the germans have been the best team in this competition so far. swept aside england and argentina and are going to do the same thing to spain and whoever they meet in the final. also klose will become the top scorer ever in world cup competition by the end of this tournament

No need to call me an idiot... I was under the impression that whittle did invent it, as he came up with the idea and the patent for it all. It can be disputed either way though. I'll take a loss there if you really want to make that.

As for 'ze german scientists', TELLING them how to build a nuke and WARNING about a nuke are very different things lol.

as for the SS position? Here is what Von Braun said about that whole thing.. and knowing how the nazis were.. I cant really say I dont believe him...

"I was officially demanded to join the National Socialist Party. At this time (1937) I was already technical director of the Army Rocket Center at Peenemünde ... My refusal to join the party would have meant that I would have to abandon the work of my life. Therefore, I decided to join. My membership in the party did not involve any political activities ... in Spring 1940, one SS-Standartenführer (SS Colonel) Müller ... looked me up in my office at Peenemünde and told me that Reichsführer-SS Heinrich Himmler had sent him with the order to urge me to join the SS. I called immediately on my military superior ... Major-General W. Dornberger. He informed me that ... if I wanted to continue our mutual work, I had no alternative but to join."

He did employ slave labour at his facilities, but just watch Schindler's list and you'll realize why. It was no different.

I might make a small bet on muller being the topscorer for the WC. (odds 15 to 1) He is one goal behind, but I figure spain vs holland isn 't gonna be a goal fest and germany vs urugay is. If he ties with villa and sneijder it's down to assists and muller has 3 vs 1 each fot he others.
