NS Photo Contest, Week 19

As a result of winning, he got to choose this week’s topic, which is:

Black and White

With this topic, I really don’t want to see random black and white photos. I want there to be an emotion (excitement, love, sadness….) within the photo, and for the black and white to pull it all together.

Rules:
-you may post 1 PHOTO ONLY
-you have TWO WEEKS to capture your photo
-no hating on photos, constructive criticism only
-we will have a voting thread to determine the top 5, then we will vote again to find the winner
-post your own photos (no stealing! You will be banned from the contest)
-click on embedded photos before judging, NS sucks the life out of them (please try avoiding quoting yourself with “click for quality", it’s a well known fact at this point)
-winner chooses the next topic
-you cannot win 2 times in a row, you can win twice, just not in a row
-PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE go out and shoot! Do your best to not pull any files because it goes with the topic. We’re looking to have this be an active photography contest.

i thought the black and white was necessary to show the rock better and help enforce the contrast between climbing out of the dark crack into the lit up route

Mine, multi exposure done straight in the camera, the dreamy effect was created by having the focus on different spots in the shots.

Hi,

I've been following the photo section of NS but have never got round to getting involved until now. Recently I've really enjoyed converting photos into B&W so this was a pretty nice topic for me to come in on.

I took this out in Kuala Lumpur last Thursday. It's a mosque that sits right below the Petronas Towers (pretty cool place to have your daily prayers). I've looked at trying to photograph this place due to all the cool pillars and lights and I think I've got something decent.

Hope you like it - looking forward to participating in more contests.

I know the contest ends very soon, so I am putting in my placeholder post right here.

"I hereby declare that this post is a coupon for late submission, valid for solely my use, in order to submit a photograph to this photography contest shortly after the deadline, should such a measure be necessary and proper. 'Necessary and proper' is to be constituted as anything I decide it to be, at my sole discretion."

Does that work for you, Ashley? I'll probably come in under time, but in case I don't... Justification: I just landed from Europe, where I had no computer access (other than my iPod) because my computer died (i.e. won't turn on). Right now I am using an unfamiliar computer to try to choose a photo to submit, and then to do a little tiny bit of post before I do. In GIMP, because this comp doesn't have PS, and I don't have the time to download and install the free trial.

Fuck it, I'm tired. I don't want to go through the almost five thousand photos I shot over the last four weeks in Europe. Here's a semi-random shot chosen from a randomly chosen memory card (one of 5 - 1x16gb, 1x8gh, 3x4gb. All filled up- the last card has enough space left on it for less than 50 shots).


Jet lag does that to you.
