Good, I was waiting for a really good video to come out using a 7D, because prior to this I had seen pretty decent 7D edits, although I haven't looked hard at all. Amazing job.

Yes.  That was amazing BUT don't give false hope to kids on here.  Chances are they won't utilize the tool half as good as that artist did.

I just find it shocking that kids on here will suggest a GoPro and a t2i in the SAME thread (if you've been reading through media and arts lately you know what i'm saying), expecting the person to pick either a point and shoot camera or ac omplicated piece of equipment.

That was awesome though, thanks for sharing!

i got the t2i as a camera i could start using as a point and shoot, and then progress and get the necessary additions until i became as good as the filmer of this video hah

That is pretty sick no doubt and very moving.

But with 2 7D's, a Mark IV, and thousands of dollars in lenses and other accessories. I'm not surprised in the least. This guy knows whats up.

I wonder how much he got paid for the wedding.

This, every little bit.

This artist is INCREDIBLE - he is amazing with his equipment, creating works of art with his camera like a painter with his brushes. He is something special...and therefore a bit of an exception - not many can use a tool like that...very few, to be honest. False hope be damned, what this guy does is near impossible.

Exactly Milos.  It isn't impossible, but kids on NS are NOT going to pick up a stock t2i/7d and instantly get amazing results.  I'm sure this cinematographer started out small and worked extremely hard to improve his work, once piece at a time.  We can all hope that one day, our work will be talked about in such a way.  The 7d is certainly an awesome tool to help accomplish those goals, but it's more about the artist than the brush (camera).

hello everyone, my name is michael and i am the creator of this small film.

i noticed on my vimeo stats from the traffic that this piece has gotten from this site so i figured id see where the commotion was all about.

firstly, i want to thank the poster for putting this film here for everyone to watch and i was humbled almost to the point of tears when reading all these warm commments.  i had but no choice but to reply to some of the insights and questions on this thread.

hopefuly these answers will help some of you, as it seems many of you are interseted in hdslr/event filmmaking.

-i had a few nice Zeiss Zf lenses (mostly the 35 f2 + 50 1.4 + 100 f2 mp) and some decent l series canon glass but i can tell you that the color of this piece was all done by hand in post.  the zeiss lenses do have better contrast, 3d pop and colour then thier other branded counterparts but to acheive the look i wanted what you see is extensive shot by shot colour correction.

-this was a real wedding and i am humbled by those who were asking if it was a trailer for a movie

- the t2i is a fantastic starter hdslr and the poster who mentioned purchasing and learning with that unit vs a more expensive one is very very smart to do so.  for those who have  little experience with these things the trick is to learn with the most basic of tools possible, and to only move on and invest more when your skills have outgrown your equipemeent.  the equipemet is not cheap so i would think that squeezing every bit of value possible out of ur current setup is the smart choice b4 expecting that money and better equipment will do the trick.  i started the exact same way as another poster had guesssed.

-it takes me about  6-9 months to deliver the final film, as the final fim is baout 25 minutes long and is every single bit to the same level of quality from what you see in teh short form version.  it donest take me 6-9 months to edit a single piece, but having to find a few weeks of uninterrupted time when having to shoot on weekends, weekdays, shooting + teaching hdslr cinema around the globe does become challenging.

finally the bride and groomand their families from what they told me were in utter disbelief and complete shock from beginning to end of the piece, and started to cry from onset pretty much until the end =)

my goodness that was an incredible film... and to think that that was only the teaser version, if you will. We need to get good ol' Michael here a pair of skis and a lift pass and get him filming some top notch skiing! That'd be something else entirely!

to answer some questions; the song is 'all this time - one republic

i had a member on this forum as me what lens would recmmended for outdoor skiing/sports, so i figure i would share my OPINION *nothing more* with everyone

i would recommend the canon 24-105 f4 IS. here are my reasonings

-24-105 gives you the wide focal length you need for sports (accentuaates motion, makes the shots more steady as you have a wide field of view)
- has IS image stabilzation which is HUGEEEEE esp. in the realm of hdslrs and rolling shutter etc etc
- being able to stretch to 105mm will let you get nice tight shots when ever in need of shooting any interviews outside of the athletes or if u want to get tighter shots in general
- the f4 aperature altho may hinder you in my industry *indoors low light reception halls), will  have absolutely no impact on live sports shooting since you will be outside, in fact having the lens stopped down @ f4 (and ideally even lower) will allow you to keep more elements in focus.
- this was the kit lens for the 5d mkii so you can easily get a brand new version of this lens off craigslist for a great price as they should be everywhere on the market.
