seriously? On the subject of Unemployment Checks/Insurance. I know half of you dont give a shit and are probably tired of hearing political shit like this. But I don't care. Its summer NSG.

mehhh what she is saying is that unemployment checks are used for consumer spending which therefore creates more jobs to meet the consumer demands. Which is generally the case so......

I have talked to unemployed people who say "I'm not looking for a job yet; they just extended unemployment." WTF?!? Needless too say I no longer talk to these people.

IMO you are putting the cart in front of the horse..

when the government gives these checks away. they dont give their money. they give your money. (unless they print it, but either way youre paying for it)

living off unemployment checks isn't enough for rent and food.

i collected ei for fisherman benefits and my ei ended last week because technically the season has begun. if i didn't live at home it would be hard to get by with only 354 dollars every 2 weeks.

I just don't see any way those checks will go towards anything substantial enough to jump start jobs in our economy when they will most likely be put towards house payments and paying off debt.

Thats true but what unemployment does do is make sure that 22 million americans input some sort of money into the economy. Consumer spending creates jobs no matter how small...

But that money is coming from taxpayers. And just printing off money so people have more of it to spend doesnt accomplish anything. Thats inflation.

well lets say i collect an unemployment check. that money didnt come out of nowhere did it? maybe i will collect that money, go squander it away, maybe ill use it to feed my family.

this begs the question where did it come from? you (albeit indirectly) produced in order to give me that money (although it was forcibly taken from you, therefore not a gift)

what were you going to do with the money? invest it? purchase something? it really doesnt matter, because its your money.

The markets are inflated thats true but the cycling of money from taxpayers too these people who are unemployed means that they will continue to spend which are economy needs around 22 million americans spending a minimal amount of money is better than 22 million americans not spending or producing a given amount making 22 million americans useless

Some of it may be your money but the money is not recent money its almost like global warming when you burn a fossil fuel it releases carbon which warms the earth. Well what unemployment checks try to do is sort of the same thing. When people get these checks they do there thing but the main thing is that money is going back into the markets therefore creating some sort of growth

America's problem is that we consume way more than we produce. As a country, we import more than we export, which has played a huge factor in why the economy has turned out the way it has. We need to go back to less consuming (PUT MONEY INTO SAVINGS!) and start producing again. Finding ways to get people money to dish it all back out into foreign markets is the absolute wrong way in going about this

If thats the case, why did they even make such a complicated stimulus package? Seriously, if she claims that checks for unemployed people create jobs and are the best form of stimulus spending (and thus would be the same whether unemployed or employed, because people spend money), then why not just give everyone money? If they were going to spend billions of dollars, why waste it on retarded projects and earmarks and just let people spend it. True it might go to paying off debt, but IMO, thats better than some shit project that has no use whatsoever.

I would say that no stimulus package and no spending would be the way to go (simply, our country at 13 trillion in debt cant afford more stuff). The only logical choice from the beginning, instead of giving checks is giving tax breaks to everyone, and to corporations and capital gains tax breaks or holidays. Theres nothing else that would have increased jobs like that. More jobs and more money comes in, and the government will make more money off taxes. Its happened many times with kennedy, reagan, and bush.

if anybody has seen the movie up in the air then they will develop a true hatred for people like obama and pelosi. Once you see how sad it is for good, talented people to lose their jobs because of a gov policy of taking away from big companies prosperity, you will really see that obama is a terrible person
