Replying to IPod help: new computer

Alright, whoever can link me or give me some help and advice gets +k.

I got a laptop today, and I'm attempting to sync my 4000+ songs, videos, and all from my iPod Touch to the newly downloaded and empty iTunes library. After plugging it in, all it does is sync it, which does nothing, and charge.

I've spent quite a decent amount of time searching Apple forums, support pages, FAQ, but no one seems to be this stupid so there are no topics on it. I've done it before a number of times, and even helped people do it, but I don't know why I can't do it. This is my last resort before I go insane.
