writing a 1400 word essay for school and im just wondering what your opinions on this subject are? Im not asking you to do my work for me just curious what you think about this.

this is what Princeton defines racial profiling as:

a form of racism consisting of the (alleged) policy of policemen who stop and search vehicles driven by persons belonging to particular racial groups

what kind of racist idiotic scumbag believes that a person is more or less likely to commit an act of terrorism because of the color of their skin. I've heard two year-olds make more educated statements than that. I don't know how you came to the conclusion that because a middle-eastern man is in an airport, he is more likely to blow up a plane than anyone else in that airport, but please. PLEASE. just stop posturing and admit that the very definition of what you are supporting is RACIST.

no matter how hard people try, now matter how much people try to be tolerable, no matter how many racial speakers speak, no matter how many crimes are commited, people will always have an issue with other races, its a fact of life, i am not trying to be negative, but its the truth, and people may call me out, but yes, i am racist, just throwing that out there, but racial profiling is ok, everyone does it

I'm not defending it morally or legally, but based purely on logic it makes sense. Say you have two applicants for a job, they are the same age, attended the same schools, got the same or similar grades, and have the same amount and quality of work experience. The only difference between the two is gender. Statistically, both might be starting families in the near future. Only one is going to take maternity leave and cost the company money if she leaves, though. Who would you choose as an executive? (I know it's illegal to discriminate, that's not the point)

Now assume the same situation, except both are men, the only difference is race, and you cannot conduct a background check for whatever reason. You don't want to hire a criminal. Statistically black men have a higher crime rate then white (34% to 4%, or something around those numbers, I can't recall the exact figures). While the black man has a 66% chance of not being a criminal, the white man has a 96% chance. That's not being racist, it's a statistic.

So if, statistically, people of a certain background have a higher tendency to be terrorists (based purely off numbers), it would only be logical to stop them more often.


Now, again, I'm not saying it's morally okay, or legally (it's not, except in arizona). But I can't really blame people for it either.

snoop dogg once said, its not racial profiling, its just the race that fits the crime, he gave an example that if theres a 35 year old white woman raped and theres half white men and half black men around, they should focus more on the white men, and not on the black men as much

yes its from the wanda sykes show... it was on and i saw snoop dogg and decided to watch. its actually pretty good and the Racial profiling part is at about 5:20 if you wanna skip to it.

Amen and on another note i was in a pretty rough neighborhood a week ago(white center for seattle locals) but i saw an african american man seizuring up and zig zaging down the side walk, now one could think he had a mental disability but i thought crackhead and lo and behold he went down and alley and lit up a crack pipe

It's the basis of almost all law enforcement in this country, of course it's okay. When a woman is raped and she is asked to give a description, whether her answer is white, black, hispanic, oriental, or anything else; that is racial profiling. Without this there is no way to crack down on criminals...............

Referring to any race for anything that has happened in history is racial profiling.

Racial profiling is not racist.............

Obama is an idiot for trying to outlaw it.

exactly, theres a difference between racism and using common sense. if your a border patrol agent in arizona, and you see a group of 50 white people and 50 mexicans near the border, how big of a chance is there than any one of those white people would be an illegal, probably pretty big, how big of a chance is there that a majority of those mexicans could be illegal's probably pretty good. saying "hey theres a mexican and a white guy 1 mile from the border, i think the mexican has a much better chance of being an illegal" is not racist, its not being an idiot.

I'm not going to say anything about airports because I don't know the statistics of each race in relation to terrorism, but the FBI statistics say that the odds are that someone who is white is less likely to assault me than someone who isn't white. http://www.fbi.gov/ucr/adducr/age_race_specific.pdf

I am not sticking up for illegal immigrants, I am sticking up for people's rights not to be prosecuted for no reason. If you can prove they are illegal through normal channels that dont include race, language or any cultural differences, then I wouldn't care about that law. I would like it if illegal immigrants would leave the country, but I dont support things that try to get rid of them that put other citizens rights at risk.

For me, the means do not justify the ends when it comes to race, everyone should be treated equally.

One thing though that I don't get is that people are getting pissed about being asked for a proof of citizen ship. If you are a legal resident in anyway this isn't a big deal as it is your DL or your Green Card AND your DL. And that is already standard stuff to ask for in a traffic stop.

I would be fine if the law only made it through traffic stops, but there are huge provisions in the bill that make it so if you legally see someone (so say, walking by them on the street) and you think they have commited a crime, then the police can question them, I would be fine if they had to of witnessed a crime, but they only have to think they commited a crime.

i think the law should be passed honestly fuck illegal immigrants im not from america but i wouldnt want a bunch of people sneaking in. A country has the right to protect its boarder

Whats the harm in a police asking you to show your citizenship its just like carrying around your liscence we have to do that when we drive if they wanna go to america and have more oppurtunities in life and enjoy all the rights and benefits of america they should have no problem providing their citzenship to an american police officer if they dontl ike it they can GTFO

I think it is all right most of the time, because most of the time it helps. There are always going to be people that fall outside the lines, but most of the time profiling would be good. For instance I feel more comfortable flying with racial profiling because it seems that most of the people that seem sketchy to ms get questioned. I also think most of us profile when we are skiing. For instance if I see a black/mexican tourist family skiing I tend to try to stay away from them because they are most likely gapers that could get out of control and hit me.

Um no??? I would be fine with deporting illegal immigrants, but I dont want anyone who is here legally to have their rights stepped on.

And I dont see the correlation between rights being preserved and me wanting to be liked by everyone, nor do I see the point of that comment.

I dont think illegal immigrants should have the rights that US citizens have, Social Security, right to vote and etc, but I do think that people who are US citizens deserve all the rights that people say they should have.
