well judging on how weve never seen one done how would anyone know. everyone hated on doubles when they first started doing them so im sure trips will be the same way
I've always been opposed to doubles, but now they are becoming wicked sick looking. Making a triple look good while that temporary tornado is happening would take a HUGE jump. I don't know if that's the progression we want to start pushing for, is it?
I mean skiing still has a lot of pipe skiing to work on as far as progression goes to keep up to the next winter olympics when men and women's super pipe will take the ultimate stage and solidify our sport and remain as a sport for years to come.
So I guess I'm trying to say is I really hope they don't really try to chase after doing trips. I think the progression of the sport could be sent in other positive directions.
I very much agree with this, although my perspective is slightly different.
I think that the sport needs to go in all directions. There always needs to be people doing different stuff. Like, its really good that we have both the nimbus crew and the people doing triples. They complement each other. Its awesome to see the sport expand and diversify, and I think that people will always be pushing it in tons of different directions. Thats one thing I've been really stoked on in skiing over the past few years. Its getting so diverse, with so many people just doing their own thing.
I agree that I think there are other areas that people could be pushing, but think about it: how are you supposed to make your hardest tricks look easy? By making them easy. By doing tricks that are harder than them. The reason doubles are really looking super good now is because people are getting used to them and doing them every day. When triples come along and start happening I think we'll see all areas of jumping improve, whether its just simple 180s, or cork 9s, or doubles.
trips are not the only way our sport is progressing. look at the rail game, hell 4 or 5 years ago spinning on would have gotten you sponsored. now every kid with a backyard setup can do that and probably more.
i think urban will be a big push, with tech tricks as well as super creative stuff. your already seeing some of the gnarest urbans you can find and the pros are pretzeling them. your also starting to see wall rides and that kind of stuff.
i think pipe skiing is getting pretty crazy now too. the most recent followus.TV bertoni and rolland were throwing unnaty dubs and some crazy ass stuff into the bag, and they looked like they were getting close to bringing it to snow.
skiings just getting to the point where, its crazy
I agree very much so with your first sentence. I just don't think triples need to be pursued. If you think about it, aerialists are doing triples. If this does get pursued, it will be just another form of aerials at that point.
Yes, I love that you got Nimbus doing their thing, out in the BC. You got Tanner killing in Alaska and any back country locale. You got urban ninjas slaying some out right impressive rails. Now that pipe has become so progressive lately, that's getting main stream attention.
Diversity has and will what drive the sport to reach out to all ages make such a great melting pot of styles and characters.
I don't like the assumption that many people, not all, but many make, that more inverts and more degress of rotation are analogous to progression.
Having said that, triples have a role to play in progression, but pros shouldn't ignore rail or style progression in the name of chasing the elusive trip.
im with u on that one but i think itll b sick for like 2 months then there still wont be style with em then like 2 years later they'll have some style and it'll be acceptable
I haven't seen a video of a triple on skis yet besides Turpins which wasn't landed, so i wouldn't know. Well all have to wait and see what they actually look like before all of NS feels like they have to bitch about them. I guess thats too late though, oh well.
For all we know... Only one triple has been put down and the footage hasn't even been released yet (bobby's). so before we start ranting and ripping on how it's "ruining" skiing... Can't we all just wait and see how it turns out in matchsticks film?
It will be pretty gay for about a year after a lot of people start doing them, then by like 2012 or so they will just become the next big trick every good pro will need to do. There wasn't a single person at JOSS who couldn't double, and eventually it will be that way with triples. Although I still can't see skiing go for quads, but you never know.
so turps was a triple flat 12... just looks so goofy seeing someone tumble that many times. all its gonna take is one pro to bite the dust doing these things and everyone will back off it.
really? i’m sure some people died (figuratively) trying dubs at first and look where they are today!! it’s progression, everyone is gunna want to try to push their own limits however they want to and for bobby and some others, it’s gunna be trips. for someone like andy parry, might be his own innovative new thing (whatever it may be). some people are gunna love how it looks others not, it’s OPINION. if he is pushing his own limits and getting stoked on his own skiing good on him. people will always kill it in their own way, and even if someone hates how the new tricks look, you got to give them respect for being creative, pushing it and having the dick to try it.
Anyone that's discovered YouTube knows turpins attempted one. I'm just talking about riding away from one. Sorry for not making that distinction clear.
