Urban ski blading

i was having a discussion with may dad about urban skiing and how its hard to get enough speed and stuff. He said, "why don't people just use ski blades for uban skiing?". since they are small,portable and easier to get speed on. i didn't have an answer, so i thought i'd ask you guys.

skis are faster, we have poles, and skiblading is gay. those would be my first 3 reasons

what first comes to mind is: because ski blading is like roller blading, which everyone knows is gay.
