I have been rocking a 8K suit for the past few years and has done a pretty good job. I have never really gotten wet. Even skiing in the rain, the jacket has gotten pretty wet, but i have remained mostly dry.
Im selling it if your interested 48 shipped. check my latest thread for pics and size

WELL,
first drop said that waterproofing doesn't matter last season with 8k h20 proof material, now they are running what? a 20k h20 proof for 2011???

Alright so the suit is basically the oakley rocco and its 10k. I can get both pants and jacket for a total 190. So should i go for it or not because I have heard complete opposite between "It keeps you completely dry even on wet powder days in the PNW" to "It's shit i get soaked even if it's just flurrying."

It doesnt matter as long as you like being wet.

honestly, it somewhat depends on what region you live in. 10k/10k works fine for CO/UT since they get very light, dry snow, but you will be wetter then a dog in a lake in the PNW

very true you got to have the water proof above 10k. but even at 10k you will get pretty wet

Even in rain my 10k jacket kept me warm and dry although it was soaking wet and weighed about 3 lbs

Way more goes into keeping you dry then just a number with a k after it.
Is it 100% seem sealed? If not it can be 50k and you will still get wet? Is it a 1layer fabric, two or three layer? What membrain is it? Some stop breathing if they get saturated, so you get soaked by sweat. Some can take abuse better then others too.
If you wear a tall tee it doesn't matter since the cotton will pull water up so your fucked any way.

I recommend 20k, then you are covered no matter where you ski. It is also nice to just watch the water drops bead right off you when your sitting on the lift and it is dumping. You know how your knees always get wet cuz heat from the legs melts the snow on the outside. Say good bye to that shit with 20K!
