Japan shopping ideas?

Alright so im heading to Japan for one week during my trip to Asia. It will be on a tour and on one day we had the choice of either going to tokyo so explore or going to disneyland. So im like fuck disneyland im adventerous motherfucker so i choce tokyo.
So what im asking is if any of you guys have ever been in Tokyo, what places should i hit up? I have a whole day. Im interested in clothing, shoes, electronics, skateboarding. Anything actually, im interested in anything that i could do for a bit. Shopping is one of my main concerns.

and im gonna try to put NS sign everywhere i go in asia so ill take pictures and put them up after i come back.

Tokyo is a sweet city-
I was there in Feb.
I was on a cruise ship- I bought a samurai sword and had it sent home, when ur there try to stay in a capsule hotel its a blast

Watch out for Nigerians at night in the streets- They will tell u to come drink for free at there clubs and get with there girls but then will charge you a ridiculous amount and max out your cards.
Japan is really expensive but amazing
I was able to go to Hiroshima, Kobe, and Tokyo

Japanese are extremely friendly and you will be amazed on how clean everything is there.

Well depends on what you want to buy while you are there. Different parts of the city specialize in different things.

If you want clothing, you probably want to hit up either Ginza or Shibuya.  My favorite clothing store is Burberry Black Label if you get the chance and have the means. If you want something cheaper there are tons of department stores all over the place. Might also be worth checking out Evisu while you're there.

For all that electronic jazz you'll probably want Akihabara or Shinjuku, should have anything you could ever want.

For skateboarding you'll probably just have to ask around and hope for the best, there are skaters in Japan but it is no where near as popular as it is in the states. I did a little research and it seems there is an FTC Skateboarding store that is in Shibuya.

As for shoes I can only imagine they would be with the clothing. All depends on what kind of shoes you want though. Might want to check out some Onitsuka Tigers or Ato Matsumotos or something like that if you're into sneakers.

As a final note make sure to try everything on before you buy it. Clothes are usually a bit smaller in Japan than they are here. Also here is a shoe sizing chart so you can find that out too. http://www.onlineconversion.com/clothing_shoes_mens.htm

flying into narita or haneda?
for one week in japan I would really recommend getting a Japan rail pass for tourists, their rail system is extremely efficient and the trains are clean, fast, and punctual. you have to purchase it before you leave the country, so check it out http://www.jtbi.ca/en/japanrailpass.php
above poster covers all the good spots, but there is also roppongi in tokyo which has some shopping, restaurants, and a few clubs and bars.
for ski shops visit ocha no mizu.
of course harajuku is also an interesting choice... there are lots of goth/rock shops there if you're interested... and harajuku girls and crepe stands. it doesn't take so long maybe half a day depending on how long you take in the shops I guess.
skateboarding is a bit passe there but there is still a scene and japanese pro skaters. sadly there aren't any parks I have heard of..but I know a guy who runs a skate shop in toki, gifu... email hotshop@skullskatesjapan.com if anyone would know about spots it would be him. http://www.skullskatesjapan.com

remember... seeing one ward of tokyo will take up your entire day, unless you can pull an all-nighter

tokyo is awesome! as japan in general. you'll have good times.
there are some cool stores near harajuku station, but if your are looking for sportsshops go to jimbocho!
There are tons of big and small stores which are specialzied on ski/freeski and snowboard stuff. In the smaller streets you'll find some nice cores shops. But probably too expensive...

In general make sure to check out Asakusa and it's temple.Shibuya is a must. Crazy place. Oh man, everypart of tokyo is so special

ya black people...they hang around in places where lots of young foreigners go, like roppongi and harajuku...
not exactly sure what their business is but it's probably selling drugs or something.

if you start walking from the harajuku station and down takeshita street which is the main drag, and once the street ends keep walking in that direction and you will find a lot of cool urban clothing/shoe stores.

yeah man definitely HARAJUKU. its the best and just a crazy experience being there, alotta good shopping and clothes. as he said above, avoid the jamaicans haha. SHIBUYA is of course a sweet place to go as well, but if you want to go to the mecca of electronics, you have to go to AKIHABARA, thats the world capital of crazy japan electronics. so harajuku, shibuya, and akihabara were my favorites

well, im half japaneese so i go there allot with mama dukes.
i usally hang in osaka at my house there butttt, go to tokyo for 2 days at the end of everytrip when i go to narita.
annyway, my fav place in tokyo is the ochanomizu(all guitars down that street) and if you play guitar then that should be a ton of fun for you

Yes that is perfect! I play bass. But like, is there a district where there is a ton of things for everyone? Im going with my family, which consists of my sister who is 18 and my brother who is 13, but hes a genius so he doesnt need to go to chuckecheese or anything :P And we only have one day so we want to make it worth it. Transportation is not a problem.

I think Shibuya ward would be your best bet for "something for everyone" followed by Shinjuku ward. Japan, downtown tokyo in particular is so dense that you can find a ton of fun stuff in a relatively small area

but seriously, just look around. i was just in china and a little bit of indonesia and i found some cool shit. just go walk around town, dipping into random stores. youll find something rad.

I second this, and I will mention that going to Japan with the intention of just shopping a ton is kind of odd...especially since not much there is cheap at all.  The night life is really awesome in Shibuya as well as long as you frequent the foreigner friendly clubs.  If you go to Roppongi to party, then you don't have to search.  Depends on what you want.  Just remember:  good clubs don't need flyers and Nigerians pulling you inside, a massage is not a massage when it's offered on the street at 3 am, and if a girl reeeeally likes you and wants you to go to a different bar.....don't.  Juicy girls have ruined many a good man.

Thanks! i just looked both those places up. They sound great for what were doing! :) I am so stoked to go now it is going to a great experience.

And ahha ^ nah, im spending 7 days there adn for 6 days its organized tour but for one day i get to do whatever i want with the family! Im only 16, but ill keep those rules in mind :P

yea they just pull tourists aside and ask them if they will come to their shop in an alley and say they will give you 50% off. a couple of my friends and i followed them and they were actually pretty chill but they are just trying to steal your money and fuck you over and guilt trip you into buying fake bape shit

I just got back from Tokyo 3 days ago and I got to say that place rocks. Perople are so helpful and they wear the wierdest shit ever.
That being said the best place to buy cool shit is Shibuya, in addition to the crazy ppl youll see there. However you got to be warned shit is insanely expensive there. At least all I saw but keep in mind I was only there 4 days. If you want some sightseeing a in temples and stuff theres a lotta cool temples about an hour train ride outside the city on the PR called Kamakura.

Also with the subway you can buy a childs day pass instead of adult for mad cheap on the machine and they never check age and stuff and if they do then you just act foreign and ignorant and its only a small fine. For sure you got to do this.

oh my god there is hope for newschoolers still. op, if you want some awesome clothes that you can't find in the US or britain, hit up burberry black or blue label shops. they are burberry's japan only exclusives, and they are fucking amazing.

It's pretty cool being in Japan. Once you are there, you will not have a problem about your plans on where to go. Since you want to buy almost anything, you might feel that your days of stay there is not enough. There's a lot of things there that are rare items and you would want to bring them all home.

Yeap it was awesome. I basically had the whole day to do whatever i wanted to do in tokyo. I think i got up at 8 and didnt come back to the hotel until 12. the subway system is so useful and everyone is helpful! I guy helped me find the stussy in Shinjuku when he had no idea where it was. He barely spoke english. We spent half an hour looking and then he found it!
