Ok help would be really appreciated and K++ will definately be awarded for anyone who wants to help. I have not had a good experience with bindings, broke 7 brakes and one full binding this year. I think they were Salomons s07, yes i know they were probably shit. But i am investing in the ARMADA Ar6s 166cm. I ski mainly park because of East Coast but if there is pow i will shred it. I weigh 115lbs. I am wondering which binding is better for me the PX 12 Jib Wide or Salomons Sth 12s.
The lower the din the lesser the durability of the binding. I was on some shitty markers with the highest din being 11. I lost the ski twice and had the binding repaired about 6 times over the course of 1.5 seasons (lost it midway through the 2nd season, yet to find it).
if you want a binding that's gonna last, get a more quality binding.
While you might not need a din of 12, i think that most bindings that do not go up this high are not very durable. you should get a binding with a 12 din range, even though you might only run it on 8. i haven't tried the solly's, but have had a few pairs of PX 12s, and they are very reliable and solid. THey are a little heavy though.
As for brakes, if the brake is too wide, sometimes when landing switch when your ski compresses, the arms can grab the snow and break. this has happened to me a couple times.
No, if you have the cash to burn get FKS 120s. Much better than Jesters and not too high of a din. Jesters go from like 6-16 right? They're a waste of money since you would never need them. Plus, FKS is much more durable than Marker, in every way.
i've done this before. it worked fine. buy the px12 jib. it's my favorite binding. i'm 115 pounds and 5'3" and it's a great binding. i've never pre-released and they are a super solid binding for 135 bucks. evo sells em for pretty cheap. maybe less now. but go px12. you won't regret it.
i have a pair of sth 12's on the original s4 and i got them when they first came out. i skied them for that full season and then most of the next season and they were fine and i weigh 25+ more pounds than you. both are good choices though especialy because you don't weigh alot.
I had a pair of salomon sth's, but they tended to pop out a bit to soon, yet they are a bit safer, now i have pivotols on my armadas and have only poped out when needed, but have not had any problems. get the px-12's. and at 100-150$ thats a fair price for brand new bindings.
