so i have been on here for a bit now and i just want to know...why is it that most girls suck at skiing? is there one girl in the world that can dub? why is it that girls suck at skiing? /discuss. i know i am going to get alot of hate for this thread but it really isn't meant to be sexist.

You clearly said in the first sentence after many periods that all females suck at skiing. I don't know about you, but I know some pretty fucking sick chicks that can throw down. Just because they can't "dub" doesn't mean they aren't progressing. You're just ignorant as hell.

Well it's also a viscious cycle in terms of social aspects. The fact is, and I'm not trying to hate, is that most spectators enjoy watching men a lot more than women, and this pretty much happens in all sports not just skiing.
A pretty obvious example of this is how many segments in the main movies do you see with women in??

If more people watch men, then companies will want to focus on sponsoring men rather than women as this way they will get a larger exposure to an audience. This then leads to the fact that financially men are in a better position to train / take time out to train / get more exposure / travelling to events etc. the list goes on... Therefore men will progress quicker.

Of course there are also massive physiological differences as to why men will progress quicker.

I really dont get you guys.

Having a chick thats even moderately amused by freestyle skiing is rare enough. But then the even rarer and more exotic "Oh-yeah-I-ride-twin-tips" skier chick, you question her dedication and the ability of her gender in our sport? Shut the fuck up. Seriously.

Girls in skiing are an especially rare thing. We all know that any girl who you may meet on a chairlift is at least a 5, and twin tips on her feet usually assure that shes an 8 or higher. I for one endorse treating these snow-maidens with well deserved respect and awe verging upon holiness. Be thankful that in this male dominated sport there are girls who want to play too.

And also why do you even care? If someone is skiing park or whatever I'm pretty sure that most are there because they enjoy it.

Hopefully they don't give a crap about what people like you think about what they do or achieve whilst skiing.

dude seriously your a fucking dumb ass! give the girls some credit that are out there throwing down every day! and just stoked to be on the hills with there friends.  People like you giving them no credit is why there are so few of them skiing. male and female skiing is on different levels b/c of the difference in people.  Ill givr way more credit to a chick that can throw a steezy three over the same jump some guy hucks a shitty looking 7 or 9 over.  Give them some credit for once and enjoy the sport not trash it!

why do people constantly argue this point??

girls can be "good for a girl"

guys are just better at skiing cause they are braver and try more stuff.

free skiing is NOT only a matter of physical of strength therefore i hate it when people try to make the pathetic argument that guys are better because they are stronger or some bullshit excuse like that..

have you ever seen some of the worlds best pro skiers with their shirts off? some are skin and bone with little to no muscle mass. there are girls that could easily kick there ass

this is not at all some wallisch fanboy question, but with the size of jumps hes hit and the air awareness he has, he couldnt drop that? i mean with that angle its hard to tell how big it is, but i just feel like he would be capable. right? wrong?

i would think so. he is extremely comfortable and balanced on skis, knows about the dynamics and control of being in the air, and is able to spot landings and pull them off smoothly while doing multiple rotations over 100+ park jumps. with a little practice in pow id be willing to bet he could hit really whatever he wants to.

i understand your point, and agree that alot of freeskiing is overcoming mental barriers, but you have to admit that strength does play a role. take skiing pipe for instance; the more core strength you can have, the harder you can pump through the tranny, which translates to a larger amplitude. with more airtime you have the ability to throw bigger tricks, such as doubles. also, there is a strength to body mass ratio element going on, so even though some of the pros look a little scrawny, their muscle mass to body weight ratio is much higher than that of most females, giving them a big edge. that and alot of the pros look to be pretty jacked, you know if they are getting paid to ski they are putting time in at the gym, it would be stupid not to, its an injury risk. but all that doesnt mean girls cant be fucking oozing with talent and style. ashley battersby for example, can go big, has some excellent style, and shes hotter than most of the girls i know. way back in the day i remember a vid of her throwing a seriously disgusting shifty 270 disaster on a flat down in some comp, i think it was on LINEs website a while back

you dont really see it in movies now but check out level 1's first few movies....theres ski bitches shredding it up that put together great sements that are as good as half the other guys on the films. i mean skiing has came a long way and you dont see it as much now, but theres always been girls that shred. ski bitches are some of the best bitches

I know you're getting a lot of hate OP, but I fully agree with you.  The womens' competitions in the XGames are terrible. 

My theory is that they have greater amounts of common sense telling them not to try flips and big jumps, but I don't know.

Me and my friend were riding on the chairlift at Beaver Creek with this girl that seemed about our age, and we were making small chit-chat and stuff, but with her goggles and helmet on we couldn't tell how attractive she was so we were trying to lean over the back of the chair to see whether or not she had twin tips.

CORRECT ANSWER: (I won't use scientific words so everyone can understand).

Females and Males are extremely different Mentally, Physically, and Psychologically. Females carry chemicals in their brain that men do not that trigger the "motherly instinct". In other words, when something looks dangerous or unnatural the brain will say "no" and create fear. The male doesn't have these chemicals because throughout evolution the male was the protector and hunter. (No that doesn't mean males don't get scared. It's just that females are physically held back because of this chemical). The left and right side of the male's brain are connected much, much better than the females, which makes for better agility. This also makes it easier for the brain to overcome the inner ear telling it that it's dizzy while spinning. Lastly, males have much more muscle mass than females, making it 10x easier to jump, twist, and maneuver themselves and the extra weight of their gear.

Simple evolution:
Females are meant to give birth and raise their offspring.
Men are meant to protect and provide.


LASTLY, I think any male who gives females a hard time for not being as good at sports is an immature, disrespectful idiot. Anyone who is heterosexual should be able to agree that they appreciate the male/female contrast, and how when they work together in daily life they compliment each other perfectly.


I studied and wrote a research paper on it. Hooray for college.

I kid, but SERSLAY when I was younger I skied with Ashley but liek noaw she is too pro and is always busy. ASHLEY KILLS IT. Both those ladies ski 10x better that 99% of newschoolers does. (I was there trying to teach ashley rodeos.... /claim.

I don't know what kind of girls you're used to skiing with, but I know probably 15+ chicks here in Whistler that could out ski probably 90% of the men that posted in this thread. Park, Big Mountain, Ski Cross, Racing, whatever. They're all well-rounded skiers that are better than most of the guys I know.

I don't know why I read these female-bashing threads.  Even when they start out fairly tame, they always end up being stupidly full of hate.  So I keep asking myself why I read them...  For those of you quoting science, let me say that you might have taken an undergrad course but the truth is that in sports physiology and neuroscience  there is still so little known about the physiological/bio/chemical differences between males and females in athletics/sports.  As women have been competitive athletes in any/all sports for a much shorter peroid of history than men, figuring out the science of gender differences in sport still has a long way to go.  Some of the differences put females ahead of males such as their endurance and ability to manage pain (which is different than pretending it isn't painful).  As we see females begin to push their limits further and further as more opportunties open up in more and more sports, it will be a subject of studies to see what helps females progress and how far will they go and what kinds of training/coaching/nutrition/etc assists in that progression and how that is different from males and why.

Stop, girls you can't complain. If you want to be treated equal in the world of skiing, get good. The fact that half the kids at my mountain can do most of the tricks in that Kaya edit just shows that the female game needs to be stepped up, which I think is happening with the 12 at the xgames and the dubflat 7. Enough arguing over a battle that cannot be won.

Newsflash: Most sports are dominated by men. The biological reasons for that come from both body structure AND bio-instilled behaviors. Basically for most mammals, females choose their partners and males need to compete for it. So if you wanna really analyze it, a girl that freestyles is probably just doing it because she loves it, not due to an inherent need to win or show off.

(Disclaimer: that was from a scientific point of view, not meaning to insult any males or females... besides the OP)

Hell they are loads better than me but when you watch this compared to travelling circus or something of the nature it's true. Guys tend to be waaay better. It's not a sexist comment it's just a question. he's just wondering why guys actually are so much better. He wasn't being a "Girls can't ski" douche he was just pointing out and wondering why girls tend to not be as good. And it's easy to see they aren't as good by watching this and comparing with a skier like Chug or Dumont. It's just a question. not ignorance.

i understand the op's point...if you take 1 lap through one of PC's parks, you'll see a few kids under the age of 18 who are already way better than all of the female pro skiers out there....i mean there are 14 year olds throwing dub corks who have been skiing far less than all of these female pros and are already way better
