it's a yellow card ......if you get caught......

  I play and love this sport and it kinda bugs me that people call it a pussy sport because of stuff like that.  Ya there are some players that do that but for them it's strategy becasue they could get a goal scoring opportunity from it.  Maybe if you played your entire life you would understand.

totally agree, u have to have played soccer pretty much your whole life to understand why professionals do it. im not defending people that dive cuz frankly i think its absolutely rediculous as well. but it gives soccer such a bad name which it doesnt deserve at all. people just gotta understand that just because players in the world cup and other professional stages do it every so often, doesnt mean that your peers that play in high school and college play like that.

Did anyone see in the Ghana v USA game when, some guy did a bicycle kick,(missed the ball), landed fine on the ground, then just sat there on the ground claiming he was fouled/hurt?! I was laughing so hard.

yea that was great. especially with squadron of what look like fireman carrying him off on the stretcher. then they get to the sideline which was maybe 10 feet away. he jumps right up, "thanks for the lift mates"


so fucking stupid. that was the only match i watched and thankfully it'll be the last. that stuff just annoys the shit out of me. why do soccer fans tolerate that? change the rules so time stops for dead balls and make it so you don't get kicked out of present or future matches for getting a card then maybe, JUST MAYBE, the flopping and rolling on the ground like pussies will subside. It's disgusting and embarrassing.

I remember playing in a tournament and my coach had told me to exaggerate because I was a smaller kid. Refs would notice more if a larger kid was tripping or pushing me. After multiple calls, the other team backed off me a bit, giving me an advantage without needing free kicks. Then the guy marking me actually tripped me while I was basically sprinting. I rolled, scorpioned, etc... The ref ended up warning me I could get a card for diving, the one time I wasn't exaggerating for a call.

Ive been playing soccer my entire life, absolutely hate when players take dives. Watching the end of USA v Ghana was tough to watch. Bunch of babies taking dives to try to kill the clock. I don't know about some of you but when ever I played and saw kids taking dives i would go out of my way to try and take them out on a hard tackle. This way I gave them a reason to stay down. Anyone else ever go after players who were known to take dives?

normally i support the teams that beat the team i like, us in this case, but ghana is an exception. i cant believe half the crap they gave and were let away with. one of their players gets injured and the us has enough respect to kick the ball to their side and give them ball controll on purpose. they were just cheap.

flopping is gay for sure but the faking injuries is really the major problem. that is unacceptable AT ANY TIME, EVER. PERIOD.

If you get carried off on a stretcher you shouldn't be able to come back in ever.

You have to remember in soccer you run around the whole time, unlike other sports where the clock stops, by the end of a game your dead tired(unlike baseball where you get to stand around 90% of the time and complain you out of breath cuz you just got a double and had to sprint to second base)

i was watching the italy vs slovakia game on thursday and at one point the slovakian goalie dropped to the ground and rolled around acting as if he was in pain when no other players were around them to try and take a penalty.

the entire game ends up just being a bunch of men acting hurt to yellow flag the other team.  so gay.

shit like that happens in hockey, I'm a ref, some kid would get checked into the boards, and get hurt, kid probley got winded, yeah it hurts, get the fuck up, they lie there, coach's, trainers, etc, come out to them, then they just get up after 5 minutes, and they go right up to the line again to continue. FUCK THAT, the rule's say if there hurt, and play stops for it, they need to go off the ice, for a shift.  (in hockey Canada rule book atleast) I make a point of enforcing it.. 

 Soccer needs a rule like that

You guys are so fucking ignorant it's amazing. First off, these guys are fucking flying out there. Watching on television doesn't do justice to the speed of the game. Something that may look like a soft little tap on your tivo is most likely a super painful tackle. Also, if any of you had to play for 90 plus minutes you would drop dead, and yes that has happened before in a professional match. So obviously the Ghanaians were trying to kill the game a little (it happens in other sports too), but they were also gassed. And if none of you noticed the ref found at least 4 minutes of extra time in a 30 minute period, all that time wasting was more than accounted for.
