I feel the same exact way. I can understand when people blame genetics to a certain, small extent, like if you're mildy overweight and so is your whole family, but obese people sicken me.
Oh my god... Shows like that just make us as Americans look EVEN MORE stupid than we already look. That show is promoting that being unhealthy and dying at a young age is perfectly normal.
I'll agree with you there, but to an extent. There are very very few people who can't help being overweight, I feel bad for them. The majority though are just a bunch of lazy slobs who eat a ton of junk. And this show is reinforcing that that is okay.
Oh well, in before massive cardiac arrest at age 36.
I agree it's the individual's fault to a certain extent, but what about the 5-year-olds who are 30 pounds overweight because their parents don't provide a good diet for them? Those are the kids who aren't supposed to live past their parents. It is definitely NOT the kids fault they're eating fast food 3+ times a week.
I've got the perfect old "Cambridge Solution" to this conundrum...the government needs to outlaw all fast food joints and regulate our daily caloric intake, right?
I don't recall capitalism ever telling people to stuff their fat fucking faces til they cannot breathe anymore. Capitalist societies have a surplus, that doesn't mean capitalism makes people fat. People make themselves fat.
I hate this "it's okay to be fat" mentality americans are adopting. I dont like to sounds shallow but seriously being overweight is just straight up unhealthy.
I am okay with overweight people, but I am not okay with them being content with their unhealthy lifestyle. I think if you are fat, you should hate your body and want to get fit.
this is also true to a certain extent but sometimes you cant blame the parents either. for example: If you are poor and you have a choice between something healthy which is usually expensive or something off of the mcdonalds dollar menu you would probably choose the dollar menu. i think it was in food inc. where they were looking at buying peppers and one pepper cost the same as 3 dollar menu meals. the people were poor and had 3 kids which one are you going to choose? 9 dollars to give each of your kids a snack or 3 dollars to feed your kids an entire meal?
