Life Lessons
My goal in writing this is not to voice complaints about today's schooling systems or about how, for lack of a better word, fucked up in school but I'm writing this as a lesson to everyone that things "just getting by with a 50" is good enough.
Throughout highschool I have learned many very valuable life lessons. One, procrastinators are only screwing themselves over. Two, the only way to succeed in highschool is by exerting all you effort... all the time. Finally, number three, Call of Duty, or any other thing that is a complete waste of time, is no where near as important as school... so don't waste your time like I did.
Procrastinators are only screwing themselves over. This, in my case, is a reality. Yes, I am a procrastinator and I now, after I have just completed grade 12, realise that getting homework done is the first thing you should do when you get home. I know what you're going to say, "but it doesn't matter when you do it, as long as it gets done," but you're completely wrong. Highschool is the place where your work ethic will either hinder your success or benefit your success depending on what your work ethic is. If you get the work done in advance, don't wait to the last night to do it, and always give your best effort then your work ethic will benefit you. If you're like me, I wait untill the night before a project is due before I even begin to think about doing it then your work ethic will indeed hinder your success in highschool and outside of highschool. I use to say, "ahh what the heck, I'll hand it in a day late and only get 5%(at my school if you hand in any work late it's a 5% deduction each day it's late) off, no big deal," and I regret doing that. GET YOUR WORK DONE IN ADVANCE! I cannot stress that enough. Please, don't be like me and settle for anything less then what you deserve.
The only way to succeed in highschool is by exerting all your effort... all the time. Honestly, I wouldn't know much about this because as I previously stated I was a procrastinator. But what I learned from procrastination is that if I put in as much effort into homework, as I did everything else, I would have done amazing in school. I have also found out from many of my friends that putting in effort actually pays off. Who would have thunk it? Put your best effort into everything you do.
Call of Duty, or any other thing that is a complete waste of time, is no where near as important as school... so don't waste your time like I did. This is my biggest mistake and the main cause of my procrastinating ways. Call of Duty, oh how you raped my social life to the point of near extinction... seriously. At one point the only person I talked to, other than my family, was my girlfriend. I even went through a time of almost depression because I realised that I didn't really talk to anyone and trust me, you don't want to experience that. SO GO OUTSIDE. This can not only affect you, but everyone that is involved in your life. So don't just do it for yourself, do it for everyone. Stop wasting your time with useless things and buckle down and get some work done!
Now that all of that is finally off my chest, I have to go figure out my future which, right now looks to be like going back to highschool for another to try and fix the mistakes I made. So learn from my mistakes and that way you don't have to make them yourself. DO NOT PROCRASTINATE, ALWAYS GIVE 100% EFFORT, and DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME ON THINGS THAT AREN'T NECCESSARY.
