First Drop 2011 vs. Saga 2011

Both of these companies have dropped their 2011 Outerwear and they both cater toward the tall type fit but what is everyones opinion on the pros/cons of each company and its product this year?

Saga has new 3L layering so they beat First Drop in that. Plus Saga has always had positive reviews and everyone likes them. First drop is in its 2nd year and last year wasn't their best year for reviews.

So I'm going with Saga because I know that their gear will be the best in my opinion. Also I like the color schemes and layouts a whole lot better.

Pre-ordering my Saga tonight!

Saga is always top notch outerwear. This year is no different with their 3L layering system which is going to be the most waterproof out on the market (or so it seems).

After their first year of business, FD had mixed reviews. I have seen kids say they hate it and seen kids they its the best they have ever owned. Obviously no first year of anything is going to be perfect, especially with such heavy competition like Saga, LDC, Causwell and others. But this year i think they did a complete 180 and improved their outerwear 100%. 20k/20k waterproofing, sip-off sleeves, customizable suits.

In the end your gonna pick what you want so it doesnt really matter what we say hear on ns but just get what you think will work better for you. Good luck!

i went with saga because i love the three color, the fit is (accoding to wiley, and tim D) amazing, and it has 3L, so it will be more functional. also, i have saga stickers plastered all over pretty much everything i own, so i would look dumb wearing FD. and the FD pants look like they have elephant legs.

I went with first drop personally. Their customer service is unmatched by any company. They may have had a rough year last year but they've completely redesigned their outerwear this year, even moved to  different factory. I think their colorways also look a lot better than sagas this year. Saga kinda got too many colors goin on this year, i prefer the first drops two tone cause in my opinion, simpler is always sicker. Anyone referencing first drops problems last year should def leave those ideas in the past because first drop has evolved into a totally different company in the last year.

only thing i hope they fixed was how easily the material on the jackets and pants wore down.  It balled up like wool in just a few uses.

I'm liking the Saga line better. The color ways are sicker. I would take either though, zip off sleeves are a major plus though.

First Drop's company is the most legit i've ever seen. They have very good customer service, their colorways are phenomenal, and best of all, the zip off sleeves and bibs are freken fantastic!

i do wish saga would make bib pants. but the function of zip off sleeves is kind of useless to me, as half the reason i bought a saga vest was to wear OVER my jacket.

first drop has brought a more variety of products to the market in their second year than saga has had in 5 years. I loved my saga, such a good fit, but this year i went with the first drop because of what they brought to the table and the effort they have put into their products in such little time.

i really like that first drop has zippable sleeves and that you can buy extra sleeves in a differant color for less then 3o bucks, i think FD did a better job of making their stuff more customizable

also i dont really like the tri color jackets, it's a personal opinion. i'm sure some people think they look sick.

that being said i'm the proud owner of last years saga ecto jacket and i love it to death. also, last time i heard lesh talking about FD he was saying how they completely revamped everything, new better fabric, differant factory. It's wayyy more legit now then it was last year.

but seriously, they all look sick, and no matter what you buy your probably gonna be stoked on it. so don't worry about what other people think so much and pick the one that YOU like te most

I have ordered FD.
Yes it was pretty bad quality last year.
But I want to give them a chance. Super good service and fast replays on E-mails
And a like the colors/designs of FD MUCH better than this years saga.

this thread should be FD VS Saga VS Causwell. Anyone know if 10 k will be fine for the EC? I've heard that causwell is made by spyder so it should be sick, i'm just worried about durability because its their first year of production. Like the jackets and pants ripping and falling apart.

eh 3L isn't the elixr of life, saga will be super waterproof, no doubt, but by all means not the most waterproof on the market. i guess it depends which market you're talking about

I'm definitely partial to First Drop, but dammmmnnnn Saga stepped it up this year design-wise and waterproofing-wise. Hard pick, but I'm heading to FD

I like First Drop's design and concepts a little more than Saga, aside from the 3 L material. I like the bib pants, and the fact that the bib is removable, I don't give a flying fuck about the sleeves, I like the revamped quality/waterproofing, and I REALLY like the magnet in the hood to keep that shit out of your face.

However, I think I am going Saga because I found colors I like, but that could very easily change.

First drop. David Lesh is one of the easiest people to contact and the company is all about the customer. For example last year when their first line of hoodies came out too small they sent them back to get new ones and gave them out as free replacements for anyone who didn't like the fit of their old one, also allowing a new choice of color and size. You can't beat what they are trying to do and it looks like they did an incredible job with next years line. Such a perfect style IMO and taking everything customers complained about before, even putting extra sleeves on preorders when the idea was thrown at them a day or so before. They completely redesigned their outerwear for next year to exceed every possible expectation. Good job first drop!

That's the dumbest thing I have ever heard. Why the hell would you wear a vest over a jacket? Wear it over a hoodie or something. I think I'm going to wear my down vest over my jacket next year...

i will wear it over a hoodie, but i like to wear a vest over my jacket sometimes, which isnt possible if your vest is your jacket.

okay id really like to get an opinion on this before i go spending 100 on saga's vest.

i just wanna know when is it really useful to wear a vest ?

you can wear a jacket for days when its snowing or just really cold, and then a sweater/hoodie for warmer days and spring skiing. what kind of days in between would it be nice to have a vest in your opinion?

i just like the look of a vest. its a way to change your outerwear look from day to day without having to buy another jacket. you can wear it over anything, so it doubles the number of outfits you have. (you can wear everything with/without a vest.

in terms of looks, i give it to first drop with the exception of the BlueSteal jacket.

in terms of quality, as everyone has said saga is the clear victor.

I'm torn between the two. I was about to pre-order the red FD jacket, but when Saga dropped I wasn't so sure. The only Saga jacket I would buy would be Lobster from the looks of them and my whole setup, but last years Lobster, although it looked sick on the site, wasn't my cup of tea. If it's any different I'll buy it in a heartbeat but for now I'm still torn.
